Years ago, this was a staple at the back of my wardrobe. Today I received another bottle, only to be surprised that it no longer bears the 1902 date; it has been reformulated into something lighter, with barely any neroli compared to before. I’m testing it, but I can already see where this is going. The liquid is transparent, which isn’t a bad thing; I think stripping the colourants was the right move. In short: if you find a box/bottle with the 1902 mark and golden liquid, go for it; otherwise, don’t splash out 25€.

For me, it’s a no. The musk dulls the brightness and zest that the neroli could offer. To my nose, these two notes clash when they are present in equal measure, each making up 50% of the fragrance as they do here. I prefer it when the musk appears subtly in the background. Its projection is quite soft and lasts around four hours on my skin. Although the neroli is present and noticeable, in my opinion it fails to deliver the joy and revitalising effect it usually provides. I won’t be buying the bottle and would recommend trying it before purchasing, even if you are neroli lovers. Scent 5/10, Longevity 4/10, Sillage 5/10, Value for money 5/10, Versatility 6/10, Packaging 6/10. Would I buy again? No.
