Descripción

Obsessed for Men by Calvin Klein is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by Ilias Ermenidis and Christophe Raynaud. The top notes unfold with Sichuan pepper, grapefruit, cardamom, lavender, and lemon; the heart reveals leather, cedar, labdanum, pineapple, and geranium; while the base notes settle with ambroxan, black vanilla, cinnamon, patchouli, and Amberwood.

  • It’s frustrating to approach a new launch and see how similar they all are. This sweet vanilla is everywhere. The streamlined bottle, the colour, and the black-and-white advertising made me think otherwise, but the pyramid doesn’t deceive. Obsessed starts fresh, slightly sweet, generic but effective, but soon turns into another generic sweet scent. In style and performance, it recalls Armani’s Stronger With You, though here that ambered, sweet vanilla is countered more by citrus than by aromatics or fruits. It has a slightly more acidic and woody touch. On my skin, the opening fades in minutes, almost disappearing lemon and cardamomo to give way to that mainstream sweet base with amber and vanilla. The citrus note remains very discreet and revives a little after several hours with other nuances. Very trite, but not bad. The combination doesn’t quite work for me. Especially on blotting paper: there I notice more cardamomo and for the first time it smells of sweat (doesn’t happen with Déclaration or Voyage). Smelling that paper is like smelling a sweaty armpit to which sweet, vanilla Axe deodorant was applied. I recommend trying it on the skin. I see it for young men and night plans. It performs well, moderate trail, and long-lasting longevity. On the skin I like it, but it doesn’t enchant me. 6.5/10.

  • This is the second cousin of Dior Sauvage, fortunately with less projection. At first, it smells very similar; I suppose the grapefruit/amber combo is akin to the bergamot/amber in Dior: that rough, raw, citrus blend that charms many (I confess the ambroxan reminds me of the smell of semen). After the first phase, it smells like something I’ve heard a hundred million times: it could recall a Carolina Herrera club oriental or the flanker nº 150 focused on the night of Issey Mijake Eau de Toilette. It’s that warm composition of soft, sweet leather, Axe style, which in 2017 doesn’t surprise but bores to death. Projection and trail are minimal.

  • It’s the second cousin of Sauvage, but with less projection. At first, it smells the same: that bitter, raw, citrusy blend of grapefruit and amber that captivates many (I don’t; ambroxan smells like semen to me). After the initial phase, it smells exactly as I’ve heard 150 million times: a club-style oriental like Carolina Herrera or the Issey flanker 150 for evening, featuring a warm composition of soft leather and intense sweetness, reminiscent of Axe. In 2017, this doesn’t surprise; it’s utterly boring. Projection and trail are minimal.

  • It may resemble Sauvage, but I prefer it and find it more interesting. The sharp opening of Dior has fresh, classic citrus notes that recall 70s men’s perfumery: herbal scents, neutral florals, and woody nuances. On my skin, a powdery and lilac accord stands out. I don’t know if it’s novel; I don’t think so, but it’s pleasant and doesn’t smell sweet like the current Ch, Polo, and Rabannes.

  • I tried it today in a perfumery. It seemed minimalist and suitable for daily wear with casual clothes (I wore Obsession for Men in the 90s and absolutely love it). However, upon smelling it, it felt cheap, generic, and completely synthetic. The projection was minimal and longevity poor. I left the shop running away.

  • I tried it today in a perfumery. It seemed minimalist, ideal for daily wear with casual clothes (I loved Obsession for Men in the 90s). But upon smelling it, I found it simplistic, generic, and overly synthetic. Projection was minimal and longevity scarce. I left the shop whistling.

  • I ordered Obsession but received Obsessed instead, paying $100 for the mistake. Fortunately, they refunded the original. I wear it in heat, applying generously: it opens with ambroxan, lavender, light leather, and a citrus note. Projection is low, then it clings to the skin; longevity is moderate, nothing to write home about, just another perfume. The box says it’s Spanish 125ml EDT. Do I use it? Yes, I don’t dislike it. Would I buy it again? No, at that price there are better options. Greetings from Argentina.

Neither do I like it nor does it disgust me. It starts citrusy with grapefruit, some cardamom, pepper, and lavender. In the development, the leather, cedar, ambroxan, and a slight patchouli become more noticeable. A jumble of notes that ends up smelling like always. Versatile and a bit weak. For spring, summer, and autumn. More for day than night. Longevity and trail are moderate.

  • I’m not an expert at detecting notes; I don’t have a trained olfactory sense, but I note the sweetness. It’s a pleasant sweetness and a bit of lavender. For a summer cologne, I’d use it on the last days of summer and the first half of autumn. It’s a bit dense for high temperatures. It doesn’t last long, but it’s something all the ones I’ve tried. It’s not expensive. The bottle design is beautiful; it resembles a drop of water. I still have many fragrances to try, but once the bottle runs out, I don’t rule out buying it again next year.

  • This perfume is nothing new or innovative, but it’s very versatile and pleasant. It smells vanilla, soft, and a little sweet. It’s quite good in terms of trail and longevity. It’s a good option for daily use to smell good without complications. I see it as suitable for any time of year. It won’t be a must-have in my collection, but it’s good.

Obsessed is the typical sweet, modern fragrance revolving around the common artificial vanilla of today.

  • Its opening is synthetic; it wraps you in ambroxan as if you’d put on medicine. Within minutes, the notes of vanilla and cedar emerge accompanied by leather, but that sweet medicinal presence remains there and invasive. Hours later, it changes with floral and fruity tones. I’m a fan of Calvin Klein perfumes; it’s a different and acceptable proposal, and I think I’ll stick with using it. It would be more oriental and balsamic.

I find it vanilla-sweet, versatile, and suitable for colder rather than warmer days. I consider it has a talcum-powdered note in the base. I like it quite a bit, it’s easy to wear, and it has generated spontaneous compliments.

A fruit of a Christmas gift from a few years ago. At first, it smells a bit artificial. I think it’s a good citrus for everyday wear if you can find it on sale. But with 200ml of CK One at the current price, it seems like a better daily citrus option than Obsessed in terms of quality, quantity, and price. In short, it’s not a must-have, but if I find it on promotion, I’ll probably return to it. 6/10.

I picked it up recently, May 2022, after trying several options looking for something different, strong yet wearable. At first, it smells synthetic, powdery, and vanilla-like with patchouli, but an hour later it transforms into something more mature and masculine with soft but dominant cedar and leather. I liked it and have no regrets, though I think it’s better suited to mild or cold weather with a jumper. Five sprays make it noticeable from a distance; the trail is moderate but could be cloying to those nearby. A woman could wear it too. Don’t overlook it; I recommend trying it. Few people talk about it because they take it for granted as another Calvin Klein, but it has something different, believe me.

I bought it recently, May 2022, after trying several options in a perfumery looking for something different, strong yet easy to wear. I tested it on skin, went around, and after an hour the scent changed: from a strong initial synthetic, talcum-powdered, and vanilla scent with patchouli to a more adult and masculine one where soft but dominant cedar and leather are noticeable. I liked the scent and bought it; I don’t regret it, but now I think it’s more for temperate, cold environments, with a sweater or jacket. With five sprays, it’s noticeable from metres away; although the trail is moderate, I think if it smelled sweeter, those nearby wouldn’t like it much… A woman could also wear it perfectly. Don’t let it pass you by; at least I recommend trying it. Not many speak of this perfume, and I think it’s because they take it for granted as another Calvin Klein, but this has something different, believe me.

  • The rooster in the henhouse, as we say in my country. I let it oxidise for a year; then it was brutal, beast mode, compliments everywhere, eternal longevity on clothes because I no longer wear it on skin. In short, a delight.

  • ‘The Rooster’, as we call it at home. I let it age for a year and now it’s absolutely brutal, beast mode, receiving compliments everywhere. It lasts forever on clothes, so I’ve stopped wearing it on skin. Anyway, a real treat.
