I’m sorry, it’s an incredible blend of jasmine and amber, super elegant and feminine. What a pity it’s discontinued.
It’s the kind of fragrance ideal for executive environments: good projection without being overwhelming, good longevity and an elegant scent. Not too sweet, not too floral, nor too spicy, although it fulfils all those aspects. It’s dominated by freesia with a touch of jasmine, the amber with a hint of peach and pepper. Upon trying it I was reminded a bit of Davidoff’s Good Life, but I insist, for formal work environments, those where you dress well and want to make a good impression, I would choose this Pour Elle without a second thought.
The bottle is a nod to the 60s, square and fits snugly in its white box with silver circles, very compact. The 60s were so modern that today they look futuristic; this bottle wouldn’t look out of place on the Enterprise of Star Trek, provided you don’t overapply it, of course. Perhaps then they’d say it encapsulates scents from Earth to take them into space. I haven’t used it much yet but I like it. It’s a potent and long-lasting floral with a fresh, juicy and peppery opening that on me lasts little, about 5 minutes, before the floral concert begins. It can give a headache if applied too heavily. Intense, distant and full of determination. The dry down is pleasant. 50ml EDT bottle.
Starts a bit strong with that alcoholic kick and the pepper which can sting, but then the peach and apricot deliver a brutal sweetness that lasts forever. The pepper lingers in the background providing contrast. In the heart, rose, jasmine and freesia create an abstract floral bouquet that fits perfectly, with freesia taking the lead. It lasts well, though it doesn’t smell overly strong or project much. It’s decent, has quality and you can tell it’s from another era, but it’s not a masterpiece.
