After reading some terrible reviews in English, I bought it based on the notes and an external review; I’ve enjoyed it. I’m not usually a fan of aquatic scents, but this is well-made. It’s a typical sweet aquatic-fruit blend, yet with far better definition than Versace Eau Fraiche and a superior sense of quality. I’m surprised by its longevity and sillage, which are well above average. I picked it up with EDT and gel for around £40, which adds to the value. My only drawback is that it’s very youthful and sweet; at over 40, I don’t always feel comfortable wearing it, so I’d say it suits those under 30 better and isn’t as versatile. Overall, it’s quite good, well above average.
After reading hundreds of negative reviews in English, I bought it solely based on the notes and an external review; I’ve enjoyed it. Although I’m not usually a fan of aquatic scents, this one is well-made. It’s a sweet fruity-aquatic, nothing more. It’s very similar to Versace Eau Fraiche, but with much better definition and clarity, giving a sense of quality that outshines the competition. What surprised me most is the longevity and sillage, both well above the current average. I bought the set with the 100ml EDT and shower gel for around $40, which adds to the value. However, for me, it’s very youthful and perhaps too sweet; being over 40, I sometimes don’t feel comfortable wearing it, so I’d say it’s more suitable for those under 30, perhaps less versatile because of that. Overall, it’s quite good, well above average.
Born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy: that’s the DSQUARED2 story. Twin brothers Dean and Dan Catenacci, trained in Milan with Versace before launching their own youth and casual fashion shows in the nineties, built the brand around their names. POTION BLUE CADET smells like pure aquatic freshness, even though the description claims it’s woody; here, the citrus top notes of bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit take centre stage, adding a floral touch through their delicacy. Picture a cadet in a blue uniform or a young sailor: the scent captures that freshness and cheerfulness. A clean, luminous musk lends a carefree air, like a blue sky with white highlights, while the base of tonka bean and sugar sweetens the refreshing juice. Although it’s not original and recalls other fresh aquatic fragrances, it stands out for the quality of its materials; it avoids that artificial, stomach-churning smell of cheap colognes to offer a sensation of clean laundry, with very well-rendered floral and lavender notes. It’s an ideal choice for anyone seeking a fresh, summery, pleasant and quality fragrance that the whole family can wear.
