The most exquisite rose I’ve ever tried, elegant and of supreme quality. A sweet scent with that spot of clean soapy touch, just right and not overdone, everything perfectly balanced. I’d swear it smells of oakmoss even though it doesn’t say so. It’s a work of art: moderate trail, lasts a long time, and keeps the same accord until it fades without leaving a trace. Brilliant in every way, except for that prohibitive price.
As the name suggests, the rose is the star: natural, soft, and wild. In the background, the aldehydes and, unfortunately, the patchouli (which isn’t my thing), though it’s barely noticeable. I detect wood, probably sandalwood, and the honey is hardly felt on my skin. It’s not the best rose I’ve owned, but it relaxes me due to its softness; with my 10ml miniature, I’ll use it for sleeping.
It’s immediately clear this is by Kurkdjian. The rose isn’t wrapped in honey but rather drowned in it, which is shocking because it should be the protagonist. The honey is dense and the flowers end up shy. Rose Barbare has class and is opulent, but on my skin the honey dominates everything, leaving the scent quite flat.
