Rouge Trafalgar by Dior

Happy Children’s Day and happy sniffing. I usually don’t wear feminine fragrances; this is the only one in my collection. It is a true delight. These are the scents that, upon spraying, volatilise instantly, reach the cerebral cortex, and generate pure joy, an uncontrollable emotion that makes it hard not to smile. It’s instant aromatherapy without a diffuser. The projection is very good, potent and invasive; you smell it because you smell it from the start. I love it as much as my favourite citrus masculine, Dior Homme Cologne 2022: that ‘I can’t believe it’ sensation, what a rich smell and what immense happiness. I tested it alongside others from the Dior Private Collection: Vanilla Diorama, Ambre Nuit, Spice Blend, Sakura, Oud Ispahan and Tobacolor. If I had to choose one, I’d stick with Rouge Trafalgar, once and for all. Super versatile, used day or night, in cold or heat, any season, it doesn’t bother anyone and it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like it. The only thing is, it’s not for formal occasions, unless you’re very rebellious jiji. It amuses me that a close friend described it as ‘fine rice’; those who understood, understood. If it’s a bit sexy-naive and playful, I understand why it looks feminine. They put it here for women, but it’s a red fruit scent, acidic, sweet, cheerful, luminous, bubbly, so noble and universal that I believe men, women, children, girls, adults, older people, anyone of any age would enjoy it. My favourite olfactive note in feminines is raspberry, and in this big perfume it predominates; I don’t feel the strawberry much; I’d say it’s a mix of raspberry and blackcurrants. If you already have it, enjoy it; if you’re thinking of buying it, don’t hesitate, buy blind, 100% recommended.

Can you make a red fruit perfume that isn’t cloying, but sophisticated, carefree, and cheerful, avoiding the usual acidity? Dior achieves this with Rouge Trafalgar, although I didn’t like it enough to justify the price. It smells very pleasant and airy, with a citrus base that makes it fresh and wearable. At first, I notice a hard-to-identify green touch, then it becomes soapy and musky as it dries. It evokes cleanliness; I like that the red fruits are in such a clean, fresh, and non-sweet composition. But the sillage seems subtle. The duration is good, about 7 hours on my skin, and it’s totally unisex. It’s a scent for spring or summer, evoking elegance from simplicity. For winter, I’ve read it makes good layering with Feve Delicieuse, and I’ll keep my decant to try it. Update: the mix with Feve Delicieuse pleased me; it adds warmth and weight, making it suitable for fresh days. Scent 7/10, Duration 7/10, Sillage 6/10, Value for money 5/10, Versatility 7.5/10, Packaging 7/10. Would I buy again? I didn’t buy it.

At first, it smells like medicinal syrup, perhaps due to the mix of red fruits which are strong on my skin. Then the musk and citrus soften that sweetness. As it dries, the fruits remain, especially cherry and raspberry, slightly acidic due to the citrus, reminding me of cherry ‘Certs’ lozenges. In summary, it’s fruity without being gourmand, making it wearable. Unfortunately, I don’t like red fruits in general, so I wouldn’t buy it, but it’s a good perfume. Unlike similar ones, I wore it all day because it’s refined and not overwhelming. If you’re looking for a cherry scent without being too sweet or synthetic, it could be a good option.

A rich yet predictable gem; reminiscent of Natura’s fruity scents, though the quality is on another level. It dries down to a musk bomb with patchouli and florals. Initially, it’s super unisex and makes you smile, but later it leans feminine. In the mid-notes, there’s cassis, a green touch, and grapefruit that smells like acidic passionfruit. It projects massively but fades quickly; after 3 hours it’s a skin scent and by 8 hours it’s gone, though it lingers on clothes until washed. For the price, it’s brilliant—it smells exquisite. If you’re a woman, buy it; you’ll be full of compliments.

An ethereal, feminine, and fresh perfume reminiscent of other red fruit scents but with that special Dior touch. Its projection is weak, the trail moderate, and it lasts about six hours. I certainly like it, especially for warm days or after a shower; the notes are very realistic and of outstanding quality. However, the price seems too high for the longevity and trail it projects. A good perfume at an unkindly price.

In my opinion, very similar to Miss Dior Cherie; the only difference is that at the end, instead of jasmine, there’s the citrus touch I mentioned. I see it as perfect for spring and summer. It seems fabulous to me.

Love at first sniff. Rouge Trafalgar took my fancy from the very first whiff. If I have a gripe, it’s that on my skin it lasts longer for me; about 3-4 hours. It’s sweet but not too much, citrusy without being overly so. A perfect balance. Fruity, tasty, fresh, delicate, and elegant. An ideal fragrance for spring-summer.
