Trance is an elegant and incredibly versatile fragrance. Although not listed on the bottle, on my skin it reveals a touch of sweet amber and spice. I see it as very unisex: on men it leans more woody-herbal, while on women it’s slightly sweeter and rosier. I say woody because the oud (subtle, not animalic, with a hint of medicinal quality) maintains that profile. In my case, the rose doesn’t dominate but hovers among the other notes. I’ve found that, keeping its character, it varies slightly from person to person, almost as if it were customised. It calls for a touch of formality, even if it’s just a crisp white long-sleeved shirt and smart jeans. I believe that if dosed correctly, it works for both a date and the office; it’s pleasant, agreeable and nothing too invasive, perfect for close interaction. It’s not a projector, barely reaching half a metre for an hour before becoming a personal bubble that only smells to those who approach. The longevity is around 7-8 hours, preferably in cool or cold weather. As I always say, don’t rely solely on the rating and always test on skin before buying any niche scent; don’t trust the paper. Especially with this fragrance.
