Vain & Naïve by Nishane

Unlike my other tests with more predictable scents, this one took me longer to understand. I needed several wears, and although I’m writing this review now, I’m still deciphering my thoughts (in the best possible way). It’s a complex fragrance that, paradoxically, doesn’t smell complex; that contradiction is what makes it my favourite today and the one I identify with most, even among over 25 perfumes. In its profile, I find a perfect balance between floral, sweet and fruity notes (without being cloying), clean woods and a creamy touch. On my skin, everything is in harmony. The longevity is around 8-9 hours. It doesn’t have much projection, but it creates a personal bubble; as you move, you leave a subtle trail. Curiously, I notice a ‘gummy’ sensation, like clean plastic; it’s a particular impression, hard to explain but addictive. It’s very versatile and suitable for almost any occasion, though I’d avoid it in extreme heat or very formal events. For me, it evokes a true ‘dream’, like being inside The Little Prince. It’s worth trying, especially on the skin. In three words: Sophisticated, versatile and unique. Rating: 10/10.

The inspiration comes from The Little Prince’s work; its teachings lead to a thoughtfully crafted fragrance. It opens with a raspberry bomb that accompanies the entire development, followed by a rose accord with a typical red fruit sweetness. It finishes soft and velvety with a hidden but perceptible white floral; it’s sweet but not gourmand. To me, the raspberry masks the plum. Regarding the floral notes, I think it suits women more, but it’s unisex, versatile and striking. In winter it works discreetly; spring and autumn are its best moments. It also works well in summer, though there are other options before calling it a signature in the heat. It projects fully with great performance and trail; three sprays in spring were enough, it clings to clothes and my pillow still smelled of it the next day. A noble aroma that recalls childhood days when we didn’t care about anything.

Vain & Naive by Nishane 🌹 Or as I like to call it, The Little Prince’s perfume 💙🪐. It’s by master Carbonnel for this Turkish niche house. Here, fruits, flowers and amber dance without overpowering each other, in harmony and peace. I always tell people it brings me peace, innocence and reminds me of childhood. It’s hard to describe because it’s so well-rounded, but I detect plum, rose, amber and sandalwood, all very homogeneous. It’s totally unisex, lasting 7-8 hours with moderate projection. It comes in a pouch featuring the classic rose illustration 🌹❤️.

I’m putting the discordant note to the previous positive reviews. It’s not a bad perfume; none of Nishane’s have been so far, but you have to like the plum note, which is very dominant here. I’ve tested it on different days and temperatures to give it more ‘runway’. What bothers me most is the opening, which smells like sour and thickened butter, giving way to a fruity bomb lightly adorned with flowers. In summary: plum + fruits. It reminded me of Decadence, sadly discontinued. Good longevity, performance and sillage.

What a beauty, it’s divine and a dream… one of my favourites. It’s super versatile, perfect as a signature scent. I’m completely smitten; I’ll be buying it again when I run out.
