Defy EDP is aromatic, spicy, and leathery. It opens fresh with citrus and black pepper, recalling Issey Miyake’s Nuit somewhat. Over time, it becomes darker, earthier, and more leathery, yet retains the clean DNA of the original EDT. After two hours, a woody note emerges, though it remains spicy, leathery, and clean. This is the darker, spicier version of Defy, ideal for evening wear, autumn, spring, or winter days. It also works well in the office or for casual outings. The longevity wasn’t the best, lasting around five to six hours with a regular trail for the first hour before fading to skin scent. I’m not sure if it’s more interesting than the EDT; it depends on taste. Those who enjoy spices will adore it, but those who prefer clean, fresh scents might not be as keen. The best advice is to try it and draw your own conclusions.

Reminds me very much of Hugo Boss The Scent, with that prominent leather and suede giving it a mature, formal touch, combined with sweet fruits that bring it closer to the first edition, though they aren’t identical. While Hugo Boss has that characteristic apple note, this Defy Eau de Parfum leans heavily into a very sweet, spicy mandarin. It’s not redundant to own both, but they do suit the same occasions… excellent performance for a Calvin Klein fragrance.
