Allure Eau de Parfum by Chanel

At 32, I wrote my first review of Allure: I liked it, but felt it was a little too mature for me. Perhaps because for years it was the signature fragrance of one of my aunts. It’s not the first time this has happened: you sense something you will love, but know it’s not the time, that your olfactory system isn’t there yet. At 37, Allure is one of my favourites; everything about it shines with beauty and warmth. That jasmine-vanilla combination that Jacques Polge made the house’s hallmark resplends here. A marvel whose quality Chanel reserves today only for its high-end range. After years of dreaming about it, I finally got a Beige from Les Exclusifs and can testify that Allure has nothing to envy from that rich cousin.

I have been looking for a vanilla that identifies me for a long time. They are either too sweet, dusty like an old wardrobe, or very citrusy and barely noticeable. In the end, I always return to this vanilla. It is so well crafted. It is a 10: the flowers so well balanced with the vanilla, the exact point of vetiver to not take away femininity. The compliments never stop; it is fine, elegant and classy, as its name suggests. A signature perfume for any woman that will make her feel powerful.

To own and wear this perfume is a life prize… Fine, delicate, strong but without excess, delicious, creamy and dry at the same time… on my skin the magnolia and woods predominate, a very sensual mix… I like to wear it and I like to smell it.

Feminine and distinguished with that classic air that sits on the borderline between ‘should I wear it’ or ‘is it too retro’?. Allure was launched in 1999. Elegant and feminine in abundance. Smells wonderful. From Chanel, my favourite is Gabrielle, which came out in 2017. Pity that on my skin Gabrielle fades; I must try the perfume or the essence… For now, I stick with Mon Guerlain, which is somewhat further from that classic line, although just a little.

One word: stylish hit.

I absolutely adore Allure EDP; it has become my go-to perfume, and I love it. It lasts about six hours, so I’ll be replacing it as soon as this bottle runs out. Delighted to have found it. 🥰

Absolutely feminine and sexy. It smells wonderful… elegant, floral, and slightly sweet. It is my favourite of all time. It lasts a long time and projects very well, a proper 10. That said, it is very expensive.

It is my go-to perfume and one of my favourites. It is the scent that many people remember me by. It is special and varies depending on the skin type (that is what makes it attractive) because it smells different on everyone, although it maintains the same essence. Although I have it now, I don’t use it much because its price in my country is very high. Delicious, sweet, vanilla-infused, and floral, it is a scent that you will definitely never forget. And if you have a partner, I recommend the Allure for men; each will smell like their own Allure and they will complement each other perfectly.

Allure is more sophisticated and versatile today than many sweet and fruity perfumes. When Jacques Polge created it, he probably didn’t think of something overwhelming, but rather with the Chanel stamp (which currently seems to cost a fortune); we cannot overlook its great elegance and modernity, almost 20 years after its launch. I love the opening; it is refreshing, obviously due to its bergamot and lovely tangerine, but always in moderation, without going overboard like short-lived, light-use perfumes. In Allure, there is a point that combines these ever-present citrus notes beautifully: its sweet vanilla infusion with the syrup that constantly blends the formula, evolving towards a mature perfume with flowers. Flowers that smell nicer than current ones, because they are not heavy or synthetic. This perfume is highly commendable; it combines sweet with precious fruits, also offers great longevity on the skin. It seems like an overlooked bet, but I keep it very much in mind because, being sweet, it gives me the opportunity to wear it on summer nights, in hot periods. It never loses the Chanel stamp; it has that fine spirit and depth that makes you realise you are wearing an exquisite perfume. It executes so cleanly and precisely that I see it worn by any woman, from the most modern to the most classic; this is what I like most: that it is a Chanel. Its price is very high; choosing a perfume should be weighed carefully, but to be honest, with the exception of the Exclusifs, there are many steps to climb in this house’s latest creations to reach this simply beautiful specimen. It was never a brutal boom, never overwhelming, but today it still stands, and finally, in my humble opinion, it lands a good blow to a heap of fruity perfumes that are either too bland or too sugary.

A feminine fragrance, with sensual hints and its own personality. It is a fruity-floral. An architectural blend of ripe peach, rose, and jasmine, rich and finally fresh vanilla and cedar give it a light, subtle, and elegant oriental charm. The perfume presents a slow evolution, but it is a fusion of notes that results in a wonderful aroma. It is on another wavelength compared to current sweet fruits. It presents a touch of distinction that can take it from a young girl to a mature woman without being out of tune. It adheres to the skin, enveloping the woman, giving her an elegant character. It is like a comet. With the initial core that presents flashes of a mix of all the notes, gradually breaking down note by note in its trail until the end. A masterpiece by Chanel. Totally recommended and suitable for any time of year.

It leaves me speechless. I tried it and it changed my perception: sometimes I loved it, other times it smelled like a rich lady with highlights, other times like a classy older woman, and finally, like an El Corte Inglés shop assistant. That’s the exact scent, an ECI assistant… I’d give it a point more if the bottle were vintage from the house, me and my bottles.

It’s a French wonder, like a gorgeous girl, chic, elegant and clear-headed. It’s lovely. Now I wear it on my wrist and stop every three words to smell it. The scent is deep, not too strong, smells a bit of peach, sophisticated and youthful. It suits any age. It lasts a maximum of six hours on my skin and the trail is good, it projects well. Chanel did a great job, but they should respect Gabrielle’s spirit more. It lasts 5-6 hours, trail 4-5 and then it becomes softer. It’s fresh and not overpowering.

Allure opens with an explosion of bergamot and mandarin giving way to a ripe, juicy peach. White flowers, jasmine and orange blossom that invade the senses, followed by an elegant vanilla with vetiver and cedar that give it a woody and earthy touch, avoiding excessive sweetness. Over time and on the skin, it blends leaving a creamy, powdery vanilla. It’s perfect for autumn and winter and I prefer it during the day, because at night I prefer more intoxicating scents. It seems similar to The One by D&G but without that lychee note that put me off. It’s a fruity oriental vanilla scent, at its point of maturity, never stale. Full of Chanel’s elegance and exquisiteness and it’s the one I like most: formal but very feminine and welcoming. I enjoy it all winter and took my time writing this because I wanted to give it all the chances. Although for some it’s potent, for me it’s very soft, lasts about four hours and the trail is weak, almost skin-scented. I imagine it on an elegant and sensual woman who almost never loses her composure, but behind the scenes lets her mischievous vein out and drives her man crazy… 😉

I liked it a lot, but in me it has no trail, it stays very soft, right up against the skin.

Exquisite and sublime creation by the great Chanel house. A perfume adored by my mother and by me, with a soft yet powerful character that evokes subtle elegance. A powdery vanilla, floral with a spectacular opening that reminds me a lot of the mythical Chanel No.22, which my mother and I also love. Simply a delight and a wonderful classic.
