Floralie looks so handsome; it feels aquatic to me… surely due to those marine and super-fruity notes. Once dry, it smells like rich coconut wrapped in sweetness. I bought it blind and it was a total hit.

It’s a very soft perfume; I don’t sense the citrus top note, but rather the sweetness of blackcurrant and freesia, very faint. In the heart, I don’t notice the rose, but instead the lily of the valley. It’s very good for daytime, but its trail isn’t very long-lasting. After eight hours, I barely perceive the base notes of cedar and musk. Overall, it stays stable and lacks as many facets as the Cabotine Original, which unfolds with each note like a surprise. I liked it, but not enough to go crazy over it; I’ll keep using it more for daily wear. It’s not for special occasions, as you’d go unnoticed.

At first, I liked it; I bought it at a great price and it has always been very pleasant whenever I’ve worn it, bringing me memories of coconut and tiare flower. However… the more fragrances from Roger & Gallet I use, which are made with a high percentage of essential oils and manage to recreate natural scents in a very realistic way, the less I enjoy other products where I detect too many synthetic components used to achieve certain aromas. This is what happened with ‘Floralie’; when I tried ‘Ylang’ from R&G, I couldn’t help but make comparisons, and it ended up losing out.
Aloha! Upon smelling it, I suddenly found myself on a paradisiacal Hawaiian beach with girls dancing hula-hula and flowers in their hair. Seriously, it’s a fruity and aquatic fragrance: at first, sweet and musky coconut and peach. The marine notes are hard to define, but together they evoke an idyllic summer day with a sea breeze. Like other coconut perfumes, it’s sensual, feminine, and pleasant, but it lacks heavy notes for evening. It conveys warmth, youth, and vitality. The cedar compensates for the extreme sweetness of the coconut and blackcurrants, softening the fruity tone and adding that woody, earthy touch of Mediterranean pine forests. It’s quite long-lasting for the price and ideal for recreating a summer day, whether hot or cold. While citrus perfumes give goosebumps in winter, with this one, its creaminess and enveloping quality are better appreciated. It has all the good taste and tenderness of Christine Nagel (NR for Her, Miss Dior Chérie, Si…), although I believe it’s only suitable for informal settings. I confess I bought it because of its resemblance to Nuxe Body products; if any user tries it, they’ll notice they’re carbon copies.
I’ve tried this new Cabotine fragrance and must say it’s an aroma as original as its predecessor. On application, I detect lime, bergamot, and sparkling citrus notes. Then it opens up to freesia, jasmine, lily, and rose. There’s a salty note I can’t specify, and a woody base with musk and tonka bean, very similar to the original Cabotine. It finishes with that clean, green, herbal note. It doesn’t reach sweetness; rather, it’s astringent. It’s a citrus, floral, clean, and bubbly fragrance, youthful for spring and summer. Its trail is moderate to soft and lasts about three or four hours. Unfortunately, it acts like an EDT and lacks the longevity of the robust original Cabotine.
