C’est La Rose by Zara

Rose C’est la Rose by Zara: The first time I tried it in-store, it did nothing for me, so I only took home Temeraire. But when I spotted it on sale, I gave it another chance, and now, after a week, I’m completely smitten. The opening is brutal: a burst of pink pepper and rose that wraps you in something fresh. As it dries down, you get soft, sweet, and creamy wood. Despite being so cosy, thanks to the white musk, it lasts for hours. I reapply not out of necessity, but for the sheer pleasure of reliving that freshness and sweetness. I’ve gone through a quarter of a bottle in a week—something rare for me! I can’t stop smelling it. Important note: despite the name, it doesn’t smell vintage at all. It has a modernity and freshness that make it super current and suitable for any occasion, without that old-fashioned vibe typical of roses. I regret not buying more bottles. It has captured my heart with that perfect blend of floral and gourmand, and it’s now my favourite. It wraps around you and makes you want more. UPDATE (26 October 2025): Searching for a dupe. I’m back with the bottle almost empty after a year hunting for something similar. I’ve done my homework to guide you: Real perceived notes combining official notes and chemical analysis: 1. Pink Pepper (spicy, sparkling) 2. Rose (main note, natural, not sweet) 3. Guaiac Wood (warm) 4. Bergamot (fresh, citrusy) 5. Cedar (dry woody) 6. White Musk (clean, fixative) 7. Subtle talcum/violet (from Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone). Confirms a rose-floral-spicy-woody-musky composition, much richer than the marketing suggests. The musk explains that clean, comforting scent. Regarding similar scents: • Tom Ford Café Rose & Maison Alhambra ROSE ORIGAMI: Although many associate it with this, I doubt they’re the same. Tom Ford and its dupe have coffee, incense, and patchouli, which aren’t in Zara. That would make them darker and chypre. • Le Labo Rose 31: The best match by intention and composition (pepper, rose, and dry wood without dark notes). I haven’t tried it, so I can’t confirm, but I’m still looking. If anyone knows of a similar one, let me know.

It smells like real rose, a penetrating and pure scent that is enhanced by the pepper and complemented by the wood. It’s very feminine, pure rose and elegant. It’s not a sweet rose, but a natural and earthy one. The main aroma is rose and radiates for a good 4 hours. It doesn’t last longer on the skin because less sweet fragrances fade sooner, but it’s a lovely scent worth trying. I’m glad that rose perfumes are becoming fashionable; they bring me joy. The wood gives it tranquillity and class. No one will stop you on the street asking what you’re wearing, but it feels comfortable, fresh, clean, and elegant. It’s simple and elegant. Useful for the office or for dressing up in formal day-to-day settings. I won’t buy it as I already have another rose and wood scent of this style, but if mine runs out and Zara has it, I’d value it.
