Jo Malone’s English Oak & Hazelnut is the hardest to find, but I managed to track it down: I reserved the 78 Banana Republic Vintage Green EDP and it’s incredible, almost a match. That’s why I bought all the ones from the Reserva collection, that is, the five available.
A common scent, fresh but with nothing special, like a cologne water; it doesn’t justify its price. If they had bottled it with better performance, it could be a good summer cologne, but it fades quickly. Dispensable.
It’s not a complex fragrance, but it is truly unique. There are still two years left on the patent for that roasted hazelnut note. Anyway, I don’t think any other house dares to experiment quite like this. As I mentioned in another review, Jo Malone perfumes smell like nature. I can’t think of another brand that stays so true to reality. And this isn’t a problem within the segment, because the founder has many niche houses on the shelves. It’s linear, but not boring. Perhaps a bit overwhelming on hot days and could get tiring. It’s sweet, but without overdoing it, thanks to that fresh base that wraps around almost the whole catalogue. It works well for men, to project serenity, casualness, and class. Jo Malone sells it as unisex, but I wouldn’t recommend Oak & Hazelnut to a woman without a strong character; it would even suit an older lady. What I like most is the fantastic longevity. I see complaints below, but on my skin it lasts from 8 am to 5 pm and still smells of hazelnut.
