Fields at Nightfall 2018 by Zara

The first thing I notice in a rather loud way in this fragrance is praline and salt; don’t get me wrong, it’s not a salty fragrance, but we know that both in cooking and in scents salt plays the role of enhancing some sweet ingredient, in this case praline and something lactonic not listed, like milk or cream. Lacking creaminess, sandalwood appears as the only woody part of this perfume, without which it would probably be an overly cloying walking sweetness and totally unwearable (when already in its opening it is so sweet that if you don’t like very gourmand fragrances, you’ll hate it). As time passes, vanilla touches appear and a caramelised accord becomes stronger, I’m really grateful it dried down softer. Moderate projection and moderate to high longevity depending on the number of sprays. Honestly I bought it because they said it was identical to This is Her, I haven’t tried the latter but I don’t feel the need to either. By the way, my review is for the special edition bottle, the one with a pink ribbon the same colour as its cap, and its box is also pink/burgundy.

I have to say that after a couple of hours, the scent changes for the better, the spices disappear and a sweet smell remains, it must be the tonka bean, it’s sweet but like cake or biscuit, not fairground sweet or caramel sweet. The truth is it improves a lot and the perfume lasts quite a while on the skin. What I don’t know is whether it projects or not since no one has commented on it and I haven’t noticed anything unless I smell my arm. But it has good longevity at least up close.

I hate this perfume on my skin. It opens with super sweet praline and caramel notes, but then it turns into a sour, slightly citrusy, burnt odour. I really disliked how it wore on me, so I gave it to a friend who likes it and on whom it suits better than on me. A shame because I remembered liking This is Her! 🙁

I detect a masculine note in it like aftershave that I don’t like at all. I wouldn’t buy it.

I bought the newest 2020 version, after the hype on social media about this fragrance, I only smelt it for a couple of hours, it feels sweet and artificial, the good thing is that it didn’t have as much alcohol as all Zara fragrances. It’s not worth it, I’ll end up wearing it at home, not for going out.

I bought it because I’d heard it smelt just like This is her by Zadig & Voltaire, and it’s true they’re 98% identical. In Zara’s (although it doesn’t appear in its notes) I smell citrus notes in the dry down, I find it a bit acidic which I really dislike. You don’t get those in This is her and that’s why I got rid of it. As for longevity, it’s very good for a 16€ perfume, staying on my skin for about 8 hours. I recommend you try it and compare before buying because it is a dupe, but as normal, they’re not 100% identical and that acidic odour might bother you.

This is a fragrance I hadn’t bought because I find it so particular that it’s on the borderline between liking it and not liking it but that curiously I find strangely addictive. After finding that this Zara perfume smelt exactly the same and had excellent longevity (about 8 hours on my skin) I decided to buy it as it is in a much more affordable price range. To me it smells very special, nocturnal. After the very slight first somewhat floral and very lovely moment of the opening, chestnut and whipped cream remain with a markedly… burnt? aroma which is what I find addictive but stays on the edge of dislike (the same thing that happens to me with By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela). Sandalwood appears in the background. Brilliant value for money if you like the scent. In my case it deserved to be in my collection at least for how interesting it is to my nose. We’ll see how our relationship evolves but it’s a scent that will always remain in my olfactory memory. EDIT: Over time this perfume and I have fallen in love and now its warm, smoky and sweet scent seems an essential in my collection to wear in autumn-winter. Exact clone of This is her by Zadig & Voltaire. I tried it in Zara and it’s been on my skin for hours, brutal longevity. At a bargain price in 100 ml. I wanted to buy This is her but I’ll buy the Zara clone without a doubt

It smells exactly like This is Her by Zadig & Voltaire and the longevity is really impressive. I applied four sprays at 19:00 and the next day when I woke up (at 10 in the morning) the first thing I perceived was the perfume. The longevity is truly amazing.

For me, and I stress, for ME it’s a resounding NO, in fact, I’ve never had such a negative reaction to a perfume. After this experience, it’s clearer to me than ever that each person is different and tastes vary. The way each individual perceives their surroundings is unique, even sensorially speaking, so I warn again that this has been MY personal experience with the fragrance. I bought this perfume blindly because of the positive feedback I’d received from people I know and because of the huge hype it has on YouTube. I was looking for a pleasant and cheap perfume to use now in autumn, since I’m studying for a civil service exam and it doesn’t make sense to waste a Chanel to spend the day studying at home. This perfume seemed to have it all: great longevity, sillage and most importantly: a really affordable price. I don’t know if it smells similar or not to This is Her, because I haven’t had the chance to try it. But if it’s identical as many people seem to say, here are my two statements: absolute repulsion towards the Zadig&Voltaire creation and towards this Zara perfume. I imagined it would be a sweet little cosy perfume, to really enjoy on these days when it starts to get cold. I found a rancid, aged odour, a rough sweetness mixed with cigarette butts put out with water. I find it terribly annoying. I picture Miss Umbridge wearing this perfume, an intrusive scent that makes me nauseous. Snobby and overpowering to the extreme. Maybe I’m too much of a fruity-floral lover and too basic about perfumes to appreciate this supposed masterpiece, but I can’t stand it. It doesn’t seem like a safe blind buy at all and from here I want to warn those who like sweet/oriental/gourmand like me that if you can, try it in store before buying it. As things are, now is not the time to throw 15 euros in the bin.

Luckily I bought the set with samples and this was the worst of them all. It smells odd; my daughter said it smelled burnt. I don’t understand why influencers think it’s a treasure. If you can, try it before buying.

Well, I just put it on at Zara and it smells odd. It smells salty with spices. I love strong, rare colognes, but this takes the biscuit. It has a strange scent, as if they mixed praliné caramel with salty food; it smells very spiced, like a village sausage with anise, haha. It’s strong and seems to last quite a long time. It’s a peculiar aroma; I think apart from the listed notes there must be something else; I don’t know where that spicy smell comes from.
