Smells like a grandfather. It’s even more stately compared to the Loewe 7 Cobalt; it’s a bitter patchouli pushed to the limit. If you’re under 30, don’t even bother. I was keen to try this DNA, but it just didn’t suit me.
The bottle is elegant and that blue defines everything. It has a perfect balance between fruity, spicy and citrus notes. Ideal for going out or for an elegant day, with lasting power and a trail of about three hours. Recommended for any season, 10/10.
A gem from AFNAN with a superb packaging. It’s a luminous and fresh blue, with a citrus touch (I think bergamot) noticeable at first, lavender taking the lead and expressive nutmeg. It’s sweet and fruity in just the right measure thanks to the blackcurrants, with an amber that evolves throughout and a herbal, woody base. It’s superbly balanced, shares the DNA of the Loewe 7 Cobalt but is spicier. Suitable for everything, casual or formal, and shines more in the heat. Projects masculinity and elegance, niche quality, hence the name ‘Highness’. In short, exquisite. Lasts over eight hours, projects strongly for three hours and has a huge trail at first. Highly recommended, buy blind as it never disappoints.
A stunning AFNAN Joyazo in a magnificent bottle; it’s blue, luminous and fresh. The citrus opening (I believe bergamot) is understated yet present, with lavender taking the lead and expressive nutmeg. Just the right touch of sweetness and fruitiness from blackcurrants, noticeable amber from start to finish, and a woody/herbal dry down. Perfectly balanced, it shares DNA with the fabulous Loewe 7 Cobalt but is more spiced. Suitable for everything, casual and formal, all weathers, though it shines brightest in the heat. Projects masculinity and elegance, signalling niche quality, hence the name ‘Highness’ meaning ‘Altez’. In short, exquisite. Lasts over 8 hours, strong for the first 3 and leaves a huge trail for the first hour before settling to a moderate sillage. Highly recommended, buy blind as it never disappoints.
For now there are no Spanish reviews, so I’ll share my experience with Afnan Highness VI. It smells like Dylan Blue and Sauvage, similar but not identical. The opening is super metallic, as if you sprayed Sauvage onto a hot steel sheet (and I swear I’m not under any influence). Then it settles into something sweet and sour, probably due to the blackcurrants. Hours later, it calms down a bit and everything seems like shower gel or soap; I think it’s the musk. The performance is excellent: longevity exceeds 12 hours. The strong projection lasts over two hours, reaching two metres with four or five sprays, and a bit more than a metre with two or three. The trail is brutal. Unfortunately, because it’s so sharp, it gives me olfactory fatigue; sometimes it seems to vanish only to reappear strongly. The first time I tested it on a blotter, it splashed onto the kitchen table; since then, every time I enter, it smells freshly sprayed, and that lasted for quite a few hours.
