What a delight this perfume is! Let me tell you my experience with this fragrance. I wasn’t used to this style. A friend told me it had raspberry and some leather, so in my head I imagined something like Layukawam or Tuscan Leather, but it wasn’t. I remember the day I smelled it for the first time; they were recording me and I don’t believe it if they could have imitated my gesture that day because today I love it, but that day it caused me repulsion and I couldn’t stand it. It smelled like new tyre rubber, like when you go to a tyre shop, but with notes that give it an animalic touch. Over time, I assimilated it. Today I tell you it’s in my top 3. I don’t recommend buying it blindly, and when you have it, give it 2 or 3 opportunities to assimilate it. The projection is good and the longevity is a beast. I like it more than Oud Ispahan and Leather Oud.

This perfume is a blast. I bought it blindly just because the name said oud. At first, I was disappointed and the second and third times it gave me repulsion. It smelled like smoked clothes after a barbecue, with that touch of smoked turkey ham. Upon drying, the roses were noticeable, but that smell of smoked meat dominated at maximum. I left it lying there not knowing what to do. A week later, smelling wood cooking nearby, I remembered the sensation and wanted to check if it was the same. Upon opening it and smelling just the atomiser, it was a totally different smell. I sprayed with fear that it would be the same again, but it wasn’t. Since then, it’s my wedding perfume, a drastic change to something much richer. It’s my number one so far. What I learned: don’t judge a perfume by its first three sprays.
A raspberry? Yes, but smoked on the grill. What? Yes, when it pours its juice onto burning charcoal. That smells like Oud Rosewood. It’s a mix of purple oud and rose Ispahan: animalic, wild, dry, fruity, smoky, and fine as coral. It smells like motorcycle exhaust and burnt gasoline, with a citrus and sweet touch from the raspberry that is strident but pleasant. It lasts until you get bored and has wide projection. It’s not versatile for the day, but on a cool summer night… wow! If you like Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford, you’ll love this more because it’s twice as good. Blindly? Never. Also, if you don’t like this, it won’t serve as a room freshener like I did with my wrong blind buys. Perhaps if there were a 40ml bottle I’d think about it, but it’s only sold from 125ml, which would be an eternity. Total unisex. Next.
It opens with a super fruity and sensual raspberry jelly that blends beautifully with sandalwood for a woody touch. The animal notes smell of smoky leather and fruit, paired with a high-quality oud that isn’t aggressive but appears and disappears saying ‘here I am’. If you’re looking for a powerful yet soft oud, you’ve found it. Up close, it has incredible persistence with balsamic, sweet, and bitter hints hiding a bright, cosy essence. Oud Rosewood lasts 9 to 12 hours with a medium-high trail; the performance is astonishing. It then settles into a skin scent that lasts all day and night. I recommend it wholeheartedly; it captivated me at first sniff, so don’t hesitate to buy it!

If you’re looking for niche woody perfumery, this is a great alternative. After three attempts, I fell in love with this dry, woody perfume with some semi-sweet raspberry flashes (just to add shine to the wood). With a complicated opening, smoky, which can lead to rejection with a touch of leather; this lasts perhaps 20 minutes. What comes after is such a realistic dry wood that it’s enchanting. Completely masculine, for closing business deals or evening events, you won’t go unnoticed; it’s elegant and I think the secret is to spray a maximum of three times. It’s not a blind buy if you come from commercial perfumery, but if you’re already on the niche curve, this perfume surpasses By The Fireplace by far (which is sweeter and more for dates), or the Royal Oud by Creed which, although not the same, has that dry woody feeling but is creamier, less harsh, and more gentlemanly due to its citrus and green points. A perfume you must know if the feeling of dry wood with smoky touches is what you’re looking for.
The first time I wore it, I thought: ‘Didn’t you learn from Oud Ispahan not to wear this?’. But shortly after, I couldn’t stop smelling it. It’s a rare delight, though not a classic suitable for every nose, especially at first. Its drydown has a charm that isn’t ultra-challenging. I had to sell it because my wife, after pregnancy, can’t tolerate certain scents. But if you’re not in that situation, give it a try; you might find a new love for autumn or winter.
A perfume that the first time I used it, I thought: ‘Haven’t you learned from Oud Ispahan already not to wear things like this??’. And well, a little while later I couldn’t stop smelling it. It’s an uncommon delight but not impossible to wear. Well, without a doubt, it’s not a classic suitable for all noses, especially in the opening, but in its dry-down it has a charm that, while not common, isn’t ultra-challenging either. I had to sell it because my wife, after pregnancy, couldn’t tolerate certain aromas… but anyone not in this situation should try it; they might find a new love for autumn/winter.
Oud Rosewood is the perfume that manages to blend smoky woods and red fruits in a balanced and pleasant way. Upon spraying, it smells quite sweet due to the raspberry, with woods and oud in the background. After a few minutes, the woods become more noticeable and the raspberry starts to recede. The predominant woods are rosewood and oud; the latter has little depth and a very light animalic touch, without being exaggerated. It is the rosewood that provides that smoky, dark aroma, like burning high-quality wood. Over time, the raspberry returns to the forefront while the oud and rosewood decrease in intensity. Sandalwood emerges creamy alongside the raspberry, creating a sweet and pleasant scent with a smoky and woody base. The longevity is 7 to 9 hours with moderate projection for the first two hours.

What a particular perfume; undoubtedly, it’s the most aggressive oud I’ve tried, yet it didn’t disgust me at all. It was a tough scent for my nose, but a very good olfactory experience. At first, it hits you with a blast of oud and rosewood, strong, dense, and smoky; don’t expect it to relax quickly. Then, fruity and sweet accords of raspberry emerge with a light animalic touch; the oud doesn’t lose its spotlight. The scent is richer with these sweet notes, so don’t be swayed by the intense opening. It requires serious character; it’s not easy to wear. P.S.: this is my first review on Fragrantica.
What a particularly unique perfume. Without a doubt, it’s the most aggressive oud I’ve tried, yet it didn’t disgust me at all. It was a very harsh scent for my nose, but certainly a good olfactory experience. The opening hits you with a blast of oud and rosewood, strong, dense, and quite smoky; don’t expect it to relax in the first few minutes. Afterwards, the fruity and sweet accords of raspberry emerge with a very light animalic touch; the oud doesn’t lose much of its prominence. Without a doubt, it smells richer with these sweet notes, so don’t let the intense opening put you off. It requires a very serious character because it’s not easy to wear. You don’t need more than three sprays to stand out. P.S. this is my first review on Fragrantica.
It’s a mysterious perfume, not for everyone’s taste. It reminds me of the female version of Gris Charnel; although both are unisex, this one smells a little fresher and sweeter. It’s intense but wearable for a day that isn’t too hot.
