It’s been my fragrance for all my life. We all have a scent that characterises us and marks our presence; even if we use many perfumes, there’s always one that defines us at our best. Thus, Romance is my favourite. I’ve worn it for ten years since I discovered it. It’s pleasant, delicate and charming. It’s strange that a fragrance with spicy notes like ginger and freshness isn’t considered a summer scent by most. It has no aquatic notes, it’s not for a refreshing breeze or energising. The ‘masculine’ smell they mention is just the combination of chamomile and woody notes. It doesn’t become masculine just because of a vigorous note, especially if roses dominate. Romance is self-love, the value a woman feels. It’s an homage to her charm, strength and confidence. Anyone who doesn’t resonate with these notes should skip it. I assure you, anyone who smells it will never forget it. The longevity and trail are perfect; I can wear it all day and as I walk through the city it’s noticeable, people turn to see where it’s coming from, and there’s nothing more pleasant than seeing yourself being yourself, radiating Romance.

I’m trying to recall my olfactory memory to describe what Romance was like. I used it in its first version, when fragrances were fresh, clean, aquatic, and with floral touches. On my skin, it was literally a bomb of lemon, ginger, chamomile, lotus, and lily; I don’t remember the other notes. It was very feminine, intense, and had great longevity, but it felt overwhelming, as if all the notes were attacking my sense of smell. I love strong perfumes, however, I couldn’t tolerate it and gave it away. I’m not saying it was bad, just that we weren’t compatible. I don’t know if it has been reformulated, but for those who like floral, herbal, citrus, and intense perfumes, this is a safe choice.

I’ve been on this site for a long time and this is my first review. Since I was very young I’ve adored perfumes and in search of my perfect scent I’ve arrived at two that are definitely for me: Romance is my favourite for hot weather, it smells clean, delicate and feminine, like just bathed, I adore it. It’s a scent that has become ubiquitous, but despite the years I’ve used it, it’s eternal love. My other favourite for cold weather is, without a doubt, after much searching, my personal signature Hypnose by Lancome: timeless, distinct, you receive compliments, sensual, sweet yet fresh at the same time, a scent that doesn’t resemble any other.

A week ago I went to a department store and at the counter I saw a bottle without a cap. Out of pure curiosity, I touched it and it was wet with drops of perfume. As I was in a rush, I left it and went to find what I was buying; on the way, I smelled my hands and what a lovely aroma! Floral and powdery, like a bouquet of soft flowers where you can detect chamomile, rose, freesia, and violet. Although soft, it was persistent. At the end of my trip I looked up the name and it was Romance, what a beautiful, feminine and romantic name. Obviously I took it; it will be my perfume for the coming spring.

Although it has been on the market for many years, I tried it in a store recently and took it. It smells clean, sweet and very delicate floral. On me it has a projection that isn’t invasive for others; those nearby or who catch a breeze can feel it and love it, I can feel it constantly and I like it very much. As for longevity, with high presence around 6 hours and close to the skin up to around 12. It’s a delicate, casual perfume for daily use, in the morning or summer due to its fresh feeling. I wouldn’t say it’s elegant, but it is feminine, delicate and I would wear it every day.
Nanae
One of the cleanest musks I’ve ever tried; neat, feminine and timeless. It opens citrusy and fresh, very lovely, with chamomile providing a relaxing effect and a hint of sweetness. Then the flowers emerge, leaving a soft, powdery musk base. Although it contains patchouli, it’s subtle and doesn’t overpower; it adds elegance and classic charm. On my skin, it lasts all day with good longevity. It reminds me of a bouquet of fresh white flowers in a bedroom with freshly laundered sheets. I wear it daily at work because it’s noticeable but not annoying to anyone.

I absolutely love it; I’ve been using it since 1999 and never get tired of it; it remains ‘my’ perfume (as my mum used to say) despite the passage of time. I’m curious and always try new fragrances, but Romance arrived and stayed forever; one of my two or three unshakeable favourites. It has just the right sillage and longevity; it doesn’t overwhelm the senses but is noticeable, with that fresh and delicious aroma and perfect balance. There are others that try more or less to resemble it, but the quality of Romance is unmistakable.

My first bottle was a gift on the hot Christmas in Santiago in 2002; since then I’ve had several bottles. Of the ones I have, although it isn’t the only perfume I own, it’s the one I’ve been faithful to all these years. It’s elegant, citrusy, fresh and with touches of sweetness. On me it lasts a long time and that’s an achievement because few perfumes last on me. Regarding age, I don’t follow those rules: when I had the first bottle I was 25, now at 44 and it has matured with me. I love it.
Pimita
My favourite perfume that smells clean. It has a very well-achieved aquatic note: clean but not like detergent or scents that remind you of cleaning products; it evokes something ‘transparent’ that tastes very good on the skin. I find it super special, it’s feminine and different. It lasts quite a while and has good projection. I’m not referring to the particular notes because I find it’s more of a set that evokes something pure.
LoreToledo
It shares many notes with Reserve by PE, though Reserve is more complex, earthy, like a rainy day. Romance is simpler, less pretentious and more powdery; the lemon in the opening makes it slightly fresher, but they’re of the same family. I’m still testing the longevity and haven’t commented on the sillage yet. Honestly, given the price, I’d stick with Reserve, although Romance feels a touch more elegant.
Tana-ARG
Infinite thanks to Harry Fremont for this fragrance designed to steal hearts. Rose, ginger, lemon and a soft woody base to hold such subtle charm. It’s a perfume that improves any mood and makes you feel radiant. It captivates as it passes, with a feminine and elegant sillage that is noticeable without being intrusive. It tells the world you’re there, that you’ve come to enchant.
Somersault
Clean and elegant in its simplicity. Discreet and fresh, perfect for everyday wear. It has that 90s unisex personality, timeless and not dated. Not suitable for going out at night if you want to stand out, nor if you’re looking for gourmand or ultra-feminine scents. But if you want something discreet with character, it will be your favourite. It withstands both cold and heat.
marcelap15
I recommend it 100%. I received it as a gift during a trip to a coastal city and it seems perfect: a pleasant aquatic sensation, a very fresh fruity citrus aroma, nothing heavy or overwhelming. In my case, it lasts all day, leaving a softer trail towards the end. Ideal for day and night. I love it; I always buy the tester as it’s cheaper and has good quality and longevity.
Lepistic
Beautiful, what a wonderful scent. Very soft, fresh and delicious. Although its trail doesn’t last long, I’d say it’s an egoistic aroma that stays with you without wanting to share. Perfect for a sunny day with a breeze; I can’t imagine it in excessive heat because its delicate essences would melt, nor in the cold because it would freeze without standing out.
MarinaEtoile
Refined and fresh scent, perfect for summer. It didn’t leave me breathless, but it’s that kind of well-constructed fragrance: present yet discreet. The ginger, lily, and a woody base with musk do a flawless job. I think it shines when you enjoy scents in a more personal way. It’s a classic due to its years on the market, but in reality, it smells timeless.
charlotinable
It’s freshness with a delightful kick, perfect for cool summer evenings. It has a subtle yet constant aroma, with a hint of rose, citrus, and woody notes. It’s a gem, versatile and very welcome after a shower for its clean, polished sensuality; I love it, it’s rich. You need to reapply frequently as it’s soft and the trail isn’t powerful.
Clauditarojo
It’s the only perfume I’ve bought more than once. I’ve searched high and low, and this is the one that smells cleanest, most soapy and elegant to me. It’s a pity it doesn’t last long on my skin, but I’m loyal and will keep using it until I find another. I refuse to wear Light Blue; it’s far too overused; I’m now trying Versense.

My mum received this years ago and still has a little left, and it still smells amazing! Definitely, each person’s pH plays a part. I love that my mum smells like this; it’s very noticeable, but I don’t find it intrusive; on the contrary, it’s a very pleasant fruity floral scent, leaning towards citrus, which I adore.
Sonyta14
I received it by mistake; I wanted Midnight instead. It never settled on my skin or left any trail. It reminds me of something from Avon; it smells clean, but if you’re looking for an incredible olfactory experience, this isn’t it. It passes without making an impression. There are better options for less money.
clauskywalker
I tried it in-store and loved it, buying it on the spot. However, it dried out within hours and now smells more masculine; my mum even thought it was for a man. I find ginger painful, yet I still enjoy it—it’s fresh, though not ideal for extreme heat.
Cferrari
If it had more projection and longevity, I wouldn’t change it for anything. It’s a shame because it leaves me with that feeling of not being able to smell it… Its fragrance is beautiful, feminine and fresh, that clean and elegant aroma.
Katrinadeanhell
Flirtatious and versatile: starts strong then mellows out. Suitable for everything. Smells clean, floral, with a hint of ginger and flowers. A feminine scent with four hours’ longevity on the skin and a moderate trail.
katy1939
One of the best I’ve tried. I LOVE it and want to buy it in industrial quantities. Haha. Unfortunately, here in Argentina it’s very expensive; they really take advantage of the prices. I hope I can buy it one day.
Noelilly
It’s my favourite perfume. It defines me: flirtatious, romantic, soft, sweet and floral. It has a wonderful trail and longevity. It makes me feel good. It’s hard to wear anything so delicate again. I love it.
Elitte
Pleasant aroma, although I prefer Midnight Romance, which I love. It’s a pity that both last very little on my skin. I notice a certain similarity to Victoria’s Secret Bombshell on my skin. Best wishes.
Alejandra Vzla
It was very pleasant, it smells clean and agreeable; I can’t describe it better. It left me with a nice experience, although I haven’t felt the urge to buy it again. Very lovely aroma.
Sussysue
It’s a great perfume with good longevity. At first, it’s fresh and spicy, but over time, a woody side emerges that didn’t convince me. I used it once and never bought it again.
Candycandy40
Very powdery, smells clean and romantic. I would recommend it for a bride getting married in spring. A true romance just as its name indicates.
Aprendiz
I loved its citrus freshness and, despite being fresh, it lasts a long time. It’s one of those perfumes that makes me want to buy it again.
Andrea Rocio
Absolutely love it, perfect for spring. It’s floral with citrus notes. The only downside is it fades very quickly.
