Sweet Honesty by Avon

This is a flower fragrance that has changed its formula; it was my go-to perfume and I opened it with a bit of disappointment. Previously, it smelled of clean, dusty old books, but now it smells more of intense florals. It’s a classic, so I’ll keep using it as it’s not bad, but it has lost that nostalgic touch. It remains cheap and, once dried on the skin, I like it, although at first it smells strong and a bit rough. The longevity is short, but the size is ideal for a handbag.

This was my mother’s go-to perfume when she was a child. It left that soft, calming scent on the skin that I call ‘mum’s perfume’. I’m longing to buy a bottle, gift it to her, and embrace her to relive that special memory.

It still smells the same as when I used it in primary school; every time I smell the catalogues or samples, I’m transported back to my childhood. As a child, I liked it, but not as much as other Avon fragrances, such as the princess ones or Exotic Waters. Now I wouldn’t buy it again because the floral notes are very prominent, especially the rose and talcum combination. If I like talcum but not so much roses, my tastes have changed. It’s very much a girl’s perfume and, in a way, timeless, although personally I don’t feel it is very vintage.

A pleasant classic. It smells of powder, is retro and like baby talc. It’s an innocent and charming fragrance. The aldehydic and floral notes stand out, though there’s also a hint of green; personally, I don’t perceive it as sweet. It’s the daytime version of Avon’s Night Magic; if you like the latter, you won’t regret trying Sweet Honesty. It could be excellent for staying at home, sleeping in, or casual outings, even to work. The longevity is exceptional, with moderate projection. It’s worth more than its price.

I used it when I was younger and it’s a scent I still like. It’s very recognisable because it was so popular in my country. It’s an aquatic floral and slightly sweet, super pleasant.

Smells like a hug from mum or grandma: relaxing, light yet with a strong presence. I keep buying it to feel pampered.

Sweet Honesty was my grandmother’s favourite cologne, a classic she loved. As a teenager, I’d go to her dressing table, smell it, think ‘how lovely!’, and dab a little on myself. Since scent connects with emotions, I just say that one day I’ll buy it again to remember that magical time. 💞💞

It takes me back to my childhood and adolescence. My grandmother sold Avon and used to gift us perfumes, perhaps which is why I became a fan from a young age. She would fill me with Avon and Zermat fragrances. I have one in my dressing table that she gifted me, and it still works. I love wearing it to sleep after a shower; my husband enjoys it too. It is a scent full of memories.

I tried several Avon classics I’d never used before, assuming they were too mass-market, but Sweet Honesty won me over. I bought it compulsively and have no regrets. I wear it daily, but especially for bedtime; it’s floral, green and sweet, and once it settles, it’s so soothing it lulls me to sleep. It brings me peace when I wake up wearing it. The best thing about the classics is their longevity: although here I only find it as cologne, deo and spray, it lasts a long time in all formats. You can smell the flower first, then the musk. I’m delighted to rediscover this Avon gem.

Tenderness bottled as a fragrance! I found it by following the notes, and it smells like childhood, like a baby, like talcum powder. Its trail is almost non-existent (the cologne is no longer sold here), but it’s excellent for after a shower or before bed. I love classic fragrances, and this one will accompany me for a long time. Worth it if you like baby scents <3

It was one of my childhood colognes and sparked my love for florals right up to today. It has a herbal note, like freshly cut grass, which cuts through the floral sweetness and gives that sense of cleanliness and freshness. I regret that it doesn’t last long (unlike Far Away, another Avon gem). It smells like a good, beautiful, modest and simple person.

Sparkling, tender and lovely. It’s a rich fragrance to wear on the skin and is hugely liked.

I adored it when I was a teenager, but now that I’m thirty, I no longer like its scent.

I don’t understand why this fragrance is so undervalued. The beauty of Sweet Honesty is splendid and warm. It perfectly captures the moment in the film ‘Somewhere in Time’ when the protagonists meet under the sun. It is a reunion with oneself, nature, or love. Citrus, vanilla, and honey (the heart notes) could belong to the Belle Époque. It is not ‘baby powder’ scent; it is something more complex, though it does emit that warmth and comfort linked to that title. It has a soft white floral touch. The only difference from the vintage is that the old one had more honey, while the new is slightly more citrusy with more musk, but overall it changes by only 15%, almost imperceptible. I adore Sweet Honesty; it is simple, elegant, and high quality. A true hit from Avon’s 70s. Comparisons with Chanel N°22 are not bad, except that Chanel is spicier and stronger, whereas this is more peaceful and intimate.

What a lovely perfume Sweet Honesty is. It is subtle, sweet, feminine, innocent, melifluous and soft. A citrus scent with talc-like notes and a very slight sweetness. Although it lacks the fruity or gourmand notes currently in vogue, I think it is timeless and suits women of all ages. While its longevity is moderate, I believe it is a beautiful perfume ideal for after a shower or casual occasions. Simply makes me feel good; I love it.
