Descripción

L'Instant de Guerlain by Guerlain is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2003, this composition was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel. Its top notes of mandarin, red apple, and bergamot provide a fresh, fruity opening. The heart reveals the delicacy of magnolia, iris, ylang-ylang, and jasmine. Finally, the base notes are stabilised with the warmth of white honey, vanilla, amber, benzoin, and musk.

The first review was less positive: I found it dull, with nothing outstanding. Very pleasant and elegant, but dull. Past the initial frustration, I decided to use it for moments when one does not wish to attract attention: work meetings, things like that. And I started using it for that. Perhaps because I wore it frequently, I eventually found its charm. That is why I am rewriting my review. I clarify that it is not my style, but it fulfils its role very well in those moments when I want something elegant, pleasant and discreet. Because its notes are not excessive: it is floral, but not too much; it is sweet, but not too much. The magnolia stands out most for me, but it is not strong either. The vanilla is noticeable and the honey very light, yet it remains clean. However, after the ‘runaround’ at various meetings, I admit I have liked it much for those occasions. Firstly, because it is elegant, being by Guerlain. Secondly, because being ‘dull’, or put another way, a little ‘flat’, it does not create passions around it; it is very wearable in any environment where we want to go well-perfumed but not stand out. Thirdly, because it is valid for any time of day or night (although I insist: being a little flat, I would not wear it for special occasions). Fourthly, because it is a pleasant, persistent scent, not showy but certainly feminine. In short, it is a good perfume when you do not know what to wear. Regarding longevity on the skin, it is moderate, no more than five or six hours. The trail is between soft and moderate; it is not one that ‘overpowers’ everyone, but it is noticeable. Despite not being my style (I prefer oriental scents), despite the initial frustration, despite considering it flat, it is giving me more play than others more in my line, which are much less discreet. I do not regret buying it now. I do not know if I will repurchase once the bottle is finished (at this rate, before others), but certainly, I am using it a lot.

  • I tried this again today; I used to hate L’Instant, but I realised the testers had been swapped, smelling of L’Instant Magic and not this one. It is a scent that lasts for hours; I have tried both EDP and EDT. On my skin there is very little powder, almost none; the jasmine and honey are noticeable with a sweet dry-down. I don’t detect the benzoin, but I do smell the amber and vanilla; in the EDT the magnolia is more evident, while the EDP is creamier and less sharp. It has worked brilliantly on my skin; today it was cold and windy, and it was very comforting. The trail is excellent with just two swipes on each wrist. I find it super elegant and have really liked it. I’m sticking with the EDP without a doubt.

Thanks to your comments I searched for this perfume and only found it at one site. The seller pulled a trick and opened one (there were no testers), but I loved it; she put a drop on me and the smell was wonderful, finally finding the honey note I was looking for. I wore it at 5 pm and it was still there the next day. I want it… Edit: I now have it.

  • I own it and it will always be one to return to my wardrobe, hehe. For the memories and its elegance, with that typical Guerlain powdery trail. Very sweet, it sticks to clothes enormously and is impossible to miss on others.

  • Powdery, elegant and sweet in just the right measure, it suits any occasion. The ‘Magic’ variation is sweeter, perhaps more for evening, but it still fits well. They are wonderful, great feminine creations. I simply adore powdery scents; that talcum powder smell feels so clean, familiar and endearing, as if it takes us back to childhood. Another selling point is the honeyed touch: that sweetness settles on the skin without being overpowering.

  • Well, two years ago I was lucky enough to own this perfume. What attracted me was the bottle and the offer of buying two at half price. I loved them immensely; it is a rich, elegant scent and above all very long-lasting, one of those you can smell close to the skin the next day. It is divine, sweet, warm, creamy, and the magnolia note is exquisite.

  • It is a tense fragrance, slightly powdery, sweet and pleasant, yet it doesn’t last long and the trail is minimal. That talcum powder scent is not for me – I gave it away – although I do like its notes of magnolia, amber and honey. It is ideal for kind and cheerful people. I love seeing it on others, but it just doesn’t suit me.

  • Very elegant, sweet and creamy, supremely feminine. It was my first perfume at sixteen, bringing back wonderful memories! It lasts a long time and the trail is excellent.

  • It is slightly powdery and has a distant relation to Flower Kenzo, but this one makes me fall in love while the Kenzo does not. I used to hear it in 2009 and could not decide between Instant or Light Blue; yesterday I smelled it again and loved knowing that I am still in love. I found it at a super low price, the whole line was like that, and I brought it home. The powdery touch reminds me of childhood; it smells of milk with vanilla, I like it very much, and I cannot stop smelling my wrist. In the same line of powders, milk, and vanilla, I feel the Alaia Blanche.

  • A wonderful perfume that smells of illusion. It is sophisticated and unique: I feel a caramelised magnolia in honey, bathing in a citrus and floral syrup, balanced by an astringent vanilla. It has enormous longevity and trail, recognisable among a million. It is the instant before a memory that heals our soul; it is the first beating of a loving heart, the path to the first kiss, a night imagining that moment when you will be there tomorrow. L’Instant is the ante-chamber of happiness; there is no more beautiful moment.

  • patamaria75

I have read that some find it similar to Kenzo, but in my case, they are very different. I prefer the L’instant; the Kenzo sometimes gives me a headache and seems less exclusive to me.

  • It was my first Guerlain fragrance. I thought about trying Samsara or Shalimar due to tradition, but they seemed too overwhelming to me because of the incense and sandalwood. I will take it slowly. After saving for a month, I did not want to leave with empty hands and bought L’instant, which I liked at first. The opening is fruity, with bergamot and an edible red apple that stands out on my skin. The predominant scent is floral: a fresh, spring-like magnolia sweetened by honey and amber. It is faintly powdery; on my skin it feels soapy, spicy, and oily due to the musk, ylang-ylang, and benzoin. I would have liked to appreciate the vanilla and honey more, but I feel them delicate, with the floral notes taking precedence. To me, it is clean and fresh, ideal for formal and professional settings. Elegant and very feminine. It has a good trail and longevity. The bottle is classic with a rosy liquid and violet glass. The problem is that the magnolias and lilies evoke the cemetery and my parents to me; it brings sadness and absence, not positive energy for work or romance, and it lowers my libido. It made up for it with La Petite Robe Noire Couture, which I loved. For Guerlain, L’instant is a unique moment where time stands still. As Octavio Paz would say, it is a window into eternity, a place where I hope to reunite with my family in heaven.

  • I am a loyal lover of this scent in EDT and wanted to give the EDP a second chance. I do not know what notes make it different on my skin, but no matter how hard I tried, the EDP does not give me that emotion and pride that its younger brother. I do not know what scent it is; they smell very similar but to me they are two distinct fragrances. Definitely, I remain faithful to the EDT.

  • I had given up on tobacco and today I tried this marvel; my pH was altered and now it suits me better. It is powdery, elegant, clean, and sweet, with great longevity and trail. I want it in my collection.

  • I used to wear this special and elegant perfume for years, and nowadays I cannot forget it. Perfect for morning, afternoon, and night. It is delicate, with good longevity and a sweetness that is not overwhelming. When I wore it, I felt special, and indeed, it is special; it smells like an elegant and refined girl. A perfume you cannot forget turns a girl you cannot forget. On my skin, the vanilla, magnolia, and honey stood out, all well-contained and combined. Even I, who do not like sweet scents, find it wonderful. I will always wear it; it is the essence of youthful elegance.

  • Mademoiselle

I did not wear it much, only a few times, but it is ultra-feminine, soft, elegant, and classy. Its aroma is floral, with iris standing out for its cleanliness and talcum-like sensation, while the honey adds a natural sweetness. It has a soft trail but lasts all year round, although perhaps not in summer due to the honeyed sweetness. It is not risky but excessively pleasant.

  • Morder doll

What an angelic scent! It smells of flowers, honey, and magnolia with a touch of fresh, elegant vanilla. It gives me the impression of a fine, expensive French perfume. On my skin, it lasts about 5 or 6 hours with a trail that ranges from moderate to generous. It is the aroma of a sweet and gentle woman, perfect for the soft elegance of Odette from The Swan Lake. Another gem from Guerlain.

  • I tried L’instant EDP over a year ago and fell in love at first sniff. It is soft, with low projection but very long-lasting, feminine and delicate. I detect more honey than vanilla. It is powdery, warm, and comforting, thanks to the amber, musk, and flowers; I do not notice the fruits. It is ideal for cold climates and romantic dates. I imagine it would suit sensitive and kind women. To me, it seems a masterpiece, fine and particular, although some of my friends did not like it as much. Without a doubt, it is in my top list.

  • Here in Argentina, this is not a perfume you see in perfumeries; I went to the city centre and saw it there; I had never smelled it… and wow, how long I went without knowing this wonder. It is so elegant, so subtle, so feminine that I fell in love the moment it was sprayed on my skin. What a pity it is not available here! I took the 80 ml size, and there was only one 30 ml left, and I doubt I will see it anywhere else. It is special… very lovely!

  • I tested it on blotting paper and it seemed a bit dry and too serious for me; however, my sister bought it on offer and ended up gifting it to me, and oh please, on my skin it is delicious. I am so glad my sister did not like it. The opening is citrusy but an elegant one, not a sharp citrus but a soft one, which immediately transforms into a very elegant, honeyed floral. Finally, the sweetness of honey remains until its dry down, which can last perfectly until the next day after application; I applied it on my neck yesterday, went to sleep, and when I returned from work last night, my pillow smelled of delicious, sweetened flowers. I would say it has a vintage personality, in the sense of an aroma that evokes wonderful times when glamour was breathed, when women wore gloves and dressed formally to go to the cinema. I consider it for afternoon and evening, for family, professional, and romantic events.

  • It goes through phases where it reminds one much of the scent of holidays: beach, sun cream, and so on. Furthermore, in a good way and with quality. Based on the notes, I expected it to be creamier and sweeter, but it is not at all. The problem I find is that as it dries, it takes on a tone that becomes tiring, like a generic base of these woods/musk types. The surprising thing was seeing that after 12 hours or so, the original scent seemed to re-emerge, but anyway, I discard it for that somewhat boring phase it has. The performance is very high, and its potency is more than evident.

  • VainillaDulce

This is the perfume of a woman who distils sweetness, tenderness, and fragility, evoking a dream. L’Instant is a dream of powdery flowers floating in the air. The queens of this composition are magnolia, ylang-ylang, and iris, all filled with vanilla, with hints of benzoin and amber; all these notes are united by the subtle sweetness of honey. A perfume full of wonderful facets, and I love them all.

  • charlotinable

It is pure talc of the most exquisite perfumery craftsmanship that obviously had to be from Guerlain. It is elegance and class with supreme distinction, packaged in an exquisite bottle with simple, refined lines, and right there it encloses a narcotic elixir that is a delicious sensual bomb. That touch of honey and jasmine with mandarin and ylang-ylang is a beautiful work of art that, once worn, weaves magic and charm into a bewitching halo. Guerlain knows how to imprint unique beauty on each of its divine creations; I love it, I adore it, and I cherish it like gold.

  • I have it from an exchange and did not know it; I was pleasantly surprised. It is so warm; you can feel the vanilla, the flowers, and finally, it dries down so beautifully. I do not know if it is still available or has been discontinued, but without a doubt, I made an excellent deal on this perfume.

  • Extremely elegant and refined… I could not like this perfume more. I just started wearing it today, and I do not know how it will perform in terms of longevity on my skin. But I adore its rich aroma.

  • Manuela Monteiro

It is excellent. I finished a bottle recently and want to find it again and buy it. It is a proper perfumazo. It lasts for hours and hours and hours on my skin. It leaves an incredible trail. It is very elegant and feminine. I think one cannot ask for more! Lots of rich, classy vanilla. IMPECCABLE. Chapeau GUERLAIN.

  • I wanted it, and he hates me! Like a lonely, lovesick girl fixated on a boy who won’t even glance my way. I smelled it in the bottle and liked it more, so I decided to try it on my skin, and, oh tragedy, nothing even remotely like its scent was detectable. I felt betrayed, all alone in my love. ‘Happy is the one whose love has been returned.’

  • I used to love it, but now, after the reformulation, it leaves a metallic note that I absolutely dislike – perhaps it’s my pH – but the longevity is wonderful.

  • One of my favourites and the bottle is nearly empty. For me, it’s an excellent perfume – floral and slightly sweet. Super elegant. I must say I can’t detect any individual notes; I just feel a creamy, slightly sweet floral bouquet. I have the old bottle version and it lasts over eight hours with a medium trail. I love this fragrance and will try to find a backup bottle for the old one, as I consider it outstanding.

  • I used this a long time ago and wanted it back, so I managed to get the original edition after reading that the formula had been altered. It’s a warm, elegant fragrance. I experience it like a hug or a very soft cashmere sweater on the skin. It lasts quite a while, and I can detect notes of magnolia, vanilla and honey. The sillage is excellent; you don’t need much of it. It’s one of my favourites, which I prefer in colder weather.

  • Kathro B.

Inside that bottle, you’d find the 100% extract of Canel’s purple chewing gums. Oh my goodness, it’s far too floral and I enjoy it more when my mother wears it. It’s a pleasant scent, but not for me.

  • What a treasure, a dusted and vanilla-infused discreet elegance. That representative iris base of Guerlain, enriched with honey, powdery notes and vanilla, makes it the Allure of Guerlain. A fragrance designed to feel glamorous and flawless; it smells like someone who moves with a brush, coquettish and deeply elegant, without grand ornaments, perfectly made up and beautiful, radiating pure beauty.

  • Warm, apple, honey, cinnamon and sunshine. It lasts a long time and makes you feel good for having bought it. I have the older version; the bottle is exquisite and super heavy. It’s like a pearl-coloured angora sweater, very Guerlain: delicate and singular.

  • I had no prior knowledge of L’Instant; it was a blind buy that surprised me. My first thought was that a high school teacher smelled exactly like this. I had an instant flashback to her history lessons, chats, and afternoons of tea with that sweet, velvety scent. Knowing it contains honey, I exclaimed it was the perfume of Miss Honey from Matilda. It opens with yellow flowers, slightly citrusy; I don’t detect red apple but something more pulpy. However, I immediately detect magnolia and ylang-ylang. As it settles, the sweetness of vanilla, benzoin, and that solar honey accord emerge. It is very Guerlain: velvety, floral and unique. It isn’t as sweet as other honey perfumes, but the note feels faithful to real honey. I can imagine my teacher having breakfast with honeyed bread and floral tea. A bit dry, it reminded me of Gucci Bloom or Memoire d’une Odeur not due to the scent, but because of that contained sweetness and its evocative potential. These three perfumes remind me of my life, specific scenes from the past; it is a luxury to wear them, as if I were draped in the colour of nostalgia. Of course, L’Instant is for personal enjoyment: it doesn’t project much, has no sillage, and after six hours it lingers on the skin until it disappears. It doesn’t bother me; it is such a beautiful, nostalgic scent that I can forgive all its faults, just as my teacher used to do with me.

  • L’Instant pour femme (2003) with its signature Guerlain touch. A lovely note of dusted iris with honeyed and vanilla hints; it matches Allure pour femme by Chanel perfectly. Very harmonious and sensual.

  • BeatrizBlackwood

Perfect for autumn; velvety and warm without being overpowering. From the name alone, you can tell it’s the ‘Instant’ by Guerlain; it envelops and caresses the skin. Very pleasant.
