An iris with anise undertones that reminds me of Lolita Lempicka.
I never thought I would end up buying a powdery fragrance with an intimate sillage and short longevity, given my preference for vetiver, leather, and woods with massive projection and lasting power; yet when I tried it on my skin, it fitted so perfectly that it simply became a treasure. It opens with pear and a hint of citrus in perfect harmony with the iris, which dominates from start to finish: talc-like and powdery, yet not old-fashioned or smelling of stale makeup. Although it is not original, those subtle nuances and its excellent quality make it unique and special, winning me over. I recommend trying it on skin; you might be surprised. As an anecdote, the sales assistant told me she never thought it would suit a man and had never sold it to a gentleman before. Update: its longevity is actually very good.
It is truly lovely. It has echoes of Infusion d’Iris, Dior Homme, and Iris Malaghan; it borrows details from all three, and in my opinion, it is the most appropriate of the lot for me. Why? Because it is an iris that is slightly spicy on the opening, becomes creamy, and finishes sweet and cosy; for me, it is perfect. Its longevity is outstanding; more than six hours after applying it, I still catch whiffs of the scent. That said, its sillage is intimate—you appreciate it yourself—and that is enough for me. The price is high, but if you find it on offer, as I did, it is a good option given the 125 ml of pure fragrance it contains.
