Almost returned to the shop after reading reviews complaining about the black pepper, which I sometimes can’t stand, especially its sharpest facet. Here, however, it complements the nutmeg, giving body to that delicious citrus opening reminiscent of the classic L’eau d’Issey pour Homme (yes, I know it well; I’ve spent countless bottles). It shares almost all the notes with that Issey, but the similarity is only in the opening; here there is no sharp yuzu note, with bergamot taking the lead in that bright top. The lotus flower gradually reveals its aquatic character and defines the floral note, making this composition perfectly unisex. Cedar closes the composition alongside a slight tonka sweetness that emerges as it dries down. Simple yet very pleasant, its spicy edge gives it substance; don’t expect extravagances, it’s a fragrance made to please and usable almost all year round.
