Hero Eau de Parfum by Burberry

Caught by it from the very first spray; smells divine on my skin and I recommend it 100%.

Excellent perfume and, in my opinion, underrated. Solid performance (on my skin) of 7 to 8 hours, with a decent projection that creates a perceptible ‘bubble’ at half a metre for the first three hours, then drops down to skin scent. Its resinous, woody and amber profile is very attractive (my partner loves it). However, it has marked notes of incense and pine, so I recommend trying it before and avoiding blind buys. I consider it ideal for night outs and cool climates, as that ‘bubble’ is dense and heavy, making it incompatible with heat or humidity. It works well for casual or semi-formal occasions, and even at work with air conditioning if you moderate the sprays. In three words: serious, mysterious and reliable. Personal rating: 8/10.

I haven’t smelled the other HEROs, someone gifted me a decant and I have to say that for me, the opening smells to alcoholic One Million, but the heart and base notes that remain afterwards are spectacular, it’s a smoky and slightly sweet wood that I find very rich.

Tested with two sprays on skin. What a spectacular opening. It has filled me completely. I’m increasingly clear that incense is one of the notes I like most in perfumery. It feels modern, sweet and masculine. For cool climates. As for performance, at first glance it seems weak due to lack of long tests. Reminds me of SWY but this Burberry Hero EDP feels more original to me. Next purchase.

Please!!! I think it’s just another one on the market and nothing more. Let’s not settle for brands churning things out and making us believe they’ve created something new. Truly it’s a shame that with the prestige of the house they sell us a fairy tale. I am totally in agreement with svazquez7.

A youthful, semi-formal fragrance that screams vitality, masculinity, and nature through vibrant woods. It opens green, almost citrusy, with a rough pine reminiscent of bygone eras. Then, robust tree woods emerge—no sawdust or old timber; this youthfulness gives it a very masculine, lively touch. Resins and incense bind it into a creamy, powdery amber, wild and transforming the dry down into the best part: elegant, sweet, enveloping, and sensual. A classic, woody, semi-formal, and relaxed profile, ideal for autumn and winter due to its final warmth. Works well during the day or at dusk, and if applied generously, can even function at night.

Smells absolutely delicious, but the truth is it fades from my skin incredibly fast.

A distinct delight, mysterious and alpha-macho: pine, incense, and cedar. An exquisite combination to enjoy outdoors, like walking through a pine forest with soft incense dew after an autumn rain. Highly recommended. The pity is that it’s a bit pricey, but worth it to carry it.

Completely woody. A pine opening followed by a sugary touch, presumably from the benzoin, although I don’t detect the incense. It maintains the tone of the Hero EDT but over time leans closer to the Parfum version (or borrows DNA from it). Very elegant and well-selected woods that allow for semi-formality, though all Burberry scents give that well-dressed gentleman vibe. It resolves many daily situations, such as going to the office or a café. It retains longer in cold seasons, like autumn and winter.

A very pleasant fragrance for fresh days and nights and casual situations. Nothing groundbreaking, but it has its own thing (somewhat similar to the SWY EDT). The only criticism is the high price; I only recommend it if you catch it on promotion. Good longevity and decent projection. Rating: 8.5/10.

If you’re looking for something average, smelling of classic masculinity and suitable for work or a night out, this could be an option. It has green notes, a subtle aquatic undertone, woods you can’t quite place, and a hint of incense that, if you imagine it, is there. If you want pine and masculinity, go for Agua Brava instead; it might seem a bit dated, but it beats this in value for money.

BURBERRY HERO ES MASCULINITY IN A BOTTLE. Short review: there isn’t much to say and what there is is good. It’s a woody fragrance with few notes, all very masculine, especially the amber. It doesn’t compete with ‘sexy’ perfumes nor seeks to be unique; it shares essence with other famous ones but aims to be a masculine and strong scent, a bit sophisticated for the novices and simple for the connoisseurs. It’s like the stereotype of a man: simple, strong, and brave. The scent remains elegant; I recommend it for cold nights and semi-formal or more formal attire.

I absolutely love Burberry, but I had lost track of their latest releases until I tried the Her line and it was instant love. I also enjoyed the Hero men’s fragrance, so I jumped straight for the EDP version for its woody notes. What a surprise: although they list three types of cedar, what dominates is an intense, vanilla-like benzoin that sweetens everything. The pine needles give a green touch at the start, but the benzoin covers it up. There’s something undeclared, like spiced leather that reminds me of cardamom on sweaty skin, which doesn’t quite convince me. Then it all becomes a dense, ambered, resinous trail, with frankincense and myrrh perceptible as it dries. Overall, it’s pleasant, though not very innovative given similar competitors, and although I’m not enamoured by the spiced part, I know many will like it for its excellent longevity.

I agree with Vitinello: the woods aren’t noticeable, but the sweetness is, even it reminds me of Ferragamo Uomo. The skin fixation is very good.

The Hero EDP is an ambered, spiced, and woody fragrance. This new version is heavier on woods and resins than the original. The opening is fleetingly green, but mostly resinous and very ambered; within a few minutes the frankincense rises and gives the scent more ‘muscle’. During the first hour and a half, that mix of amber and frankincense brings me vague memories of Loewe 7 Anónimo, being the Burberry version sweeter. After a few hours, it turns more spiced and woody, with a close impression of vanilla; I even think there might be a nod to the Givenchy Gentleman line, but in the Hero they substitute iris for frankincense (or perhaps it was an olfactory illusion). It’s perfect for fresh or cold days; autumn and winter are its seasons, and it serves for the office, special outings, or outdoors. Longevity was good, around 8 hours with regular projection. It’s not bad, has interesting phases, but I don’t recommend buying it blindly: try it first and draw your own conclusions.
