Cheap & Chic Chic Petals by Moschino

I’ve adored it for years, but here in Argentina they stopped producing it and I can’t find it anymore. At first, it smells of pomegranate and strawberry, super fruity and delicious, then the base musk emerges. Everyone praised it!

Moschino has always seemed irreverent to me. The Cheap and Chic line debuted in 1995 with a funny bottle inspired by the silhouette of Olivia, Popeye’s wife. It was a wonderful perfume followed by many flankers, some irrelevant, others more popular like I Love Love Cheap and Chic, a wonderful summer scent very similar to Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue. This ‘Chic Petals’ flanker is one of my favourites: another delicious summer scent where pomegranate stands out more than petals, giving it a juicy, red, and fresh note from the start, accompanied by wild strawberry that accentuates its fruity character (at one point I thought it had lychee), but the water lily gives it that aquatic floral scent, so the fruits never feel sweet or overbearing; it has that perfect, fresh balance for day and summer or spring wear. As it develops, more delicate floral notes (gardenia and orchids) appear with ginger and musk, making the composition sparkling, finished with Italian iris and cypress that give it a clean, fresh air. These fresh fragrances lack longevity; in excessive heat they tend to disappear quickly, but if applied generously or on clothes, we can extend their duration.

In the 90s I used Clinique’s Happy and had a watery note I didn’t like much. Smelling this perfume reminded me of that scent, but softer and more pleasant. It’s wearable, ideal for daytime, fresh and perfect for work because its trail is short and it doesn’t last long on my skin, but that’s normal for me.

Rich and fresh, but not my favourite. For a moment it smells of soap and lasts very little. That said, I absolutely love the little bottle!

Of the fresh and aquatic flankers, this is the best, the least synthetic, feminine, and summery. It smells of wild strawberry, pomegranate, and water lily. It’s not cloying, it’s very fine. The classic Cheap makes me gag, this is more bearable.

I’m between yes and no. I’d say it passes with a 6. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it. On my skin it lasted little, about 3 hours.

What a lovely fragrance, I absolutely adored it. It’s a blend of fruity notes with a soft floral touch, and I, who was so scared by the name ‘Petals’, feel the bottle matches the scent perfectly, conveying softness and tenderness. Total tranquillity, what a beautiful smell, even though I used to be terrified of Moschino fragrances.

As others said, the ginger overwhelms it; it doesn’t blend with the rest. As soon as you put it on, it smells like a fairly standard floral/fruity scent, but the ginger note stands apart, not mixed… it’s strange because it doesn’t even smell like fresh ginger, but rather stale ginger biscuits, and that scent dominates for the first few minutes. Fortunately, later the floral notes remain and you can appreciate some of the classic Cheap & Chic.

I tried it and found it very fresh and fruity… I detect plenty of red berries, especially raspberry… I hope to buy it so I can write a better review.

What a beautiful perfume! I was gifted a miniature and I like that it’s floral, delicate, and sweet. I love applying it after a bath at night; it gives me that touch of tranquillity and freshness. It is true that it’s for spring and summer. Its trail is moderate, and if I wear it at night, by the next day it’s already faint on my skin.

I detect a scent of strawberries with cream, pomegranate seeds, and a hint of ginger. At first, it’s strong, but after 10 minutes it softens. It’s suitable for ages 15 to 20; it’s good but not my favourite. If you don’t hug, people won’t sense your scent. The bottle is gorgeous.

I don’t like it. I have the sample but wouldn’t buy it. It’s cloying. I think the ginger ruins it. That’s what I find unpleasant.

Too youthful for me, but I liked it a lot; it’s very floral but ends with a light, slightly sugary touch. I have no complaints; I recommend it for fun young girls. It’s ideal for daytime.

The bottle and packaging match the scent perfectly: cheerful, relaxed, fun, flirtatious, feminine, and spring-like. It’s more fruity than floral, with strawberries and pomegranate taking the lead, though the floral notes prevent it from being too sweet or cloying; it feels fresh all the time. It finishes with a fine, exquisite woody note. Moderate sillage, lasting between 6 and 8 hours. Ideal for informal spring and summer wear.
