Aqua Kenzo pour Homme by Kenzo

I loved it at first, but when I bought it again, I wasn’t so keen. I feel the performance and projection have dropped significantly; it smells sweeter than aquatic, sits very close to the skin, and isn’t a blue or marine fragrance as the name suggests. It’s not bad, but there are better options for the price. For me, it’s a ‘meh’ – I used to like it, but I don’t think I’ll buy it again.

At times it reminds me of JPG Scandal. A good fragrance, fairly unisex with a masculine and youthful lean. It’s not as fresh as it seems; while it might appear aquatic upon deeper inspection, it isn’t really. It’s sweet but not overpowering; ideal for mild days and evening outings. A good perfume, though there are better options for this price.

Starts like JPG Le Beau before transforming into One Million Lucky. I feel this Kenzo is lower quality than the last two. It’s good for going out at night, lasts a decent amount of time but doesn’t project much. I wouldn’t recommend it. 4/10

Very lovely perfume, that warm, sweet and fresh sensation all at once, yet enveloping due to a warm, sweet hazelnut and musky note. It’s highly seductive; not a projection bomb, but you can feel it all the time.

Since I tried it after a blind buy, it has become one of my favourites (another Kenzo on my humble podium). Spoiler: IT IS NOT AN “AQUA”. Well, that’s what it’s called, but it has nothing to do with what we imagine. It’s a dark, sweet, creamy, and woody fragrance. It begins with a sharp opening of green apple and pepper (I detect no citrus whatsoever). The heart is hazelnut, which feels blue due to the aquatic notes accompanying it, and blends with sesame, which is very noticeable and gives it a special touch. Tonka bean and woods form the base, adding something more sober, while amber and vanilla provide the sweet touch. Overall, it feels creamy, rich, and original… More recommended for evening wear and in mild or cool climates. Ideal for dates, dinners, and intimacy. On my skin, the performance was excellent… Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Duration: 8/10 Cheers, friends!

Got it on sale for €16 and bought it blind. I fully agree with those who say the name ‘Aqua’ is a scam: it smells nothing of the sea and neither the bottle nor the box with the Hokusai wave are deceptive. The marketing leads you to expect something fresh but leaves you dry. At first with that strong sweet pink pepper I wasn’t convinced but by the next day I could stand it. The heart has a woody-hazelnut touch with an interesting slight saltiness. The dry down features soft vanilla tonka bean and cedar; all very pleasant but generic. On my skin it lasts 5-6 hours with a low trail creating a personal bubble. It’s best for daily wear; at night it doesn’t compete with the beasts. I wouldn’t use it in summer as there are better options but rather in autumn on fresh days. For the price it’s okay and has a different touch but I won’t be buying it again as I didn’t love it.

A exquisite intoxicating and enveloping fragrance. The last time I chose a perfume with my partner he passed this one by (I already owned the Aqua Kenzo pour Femme that I adore) because he was looking for something along the lines of L’Homme Libre and wanted a break. However I couldn’t forget that sweet gentle and manly tide it exudes as soon as it leaves the bottle so I gifted it to him immediately. It was a great success; he enjoys it immensely. On the skin after a few hours the fruity sweetness mellows and you perceive it as spicy woody and clean. Pink pepper cedar and tonka bean are the clearest notes from the start and linger keeping the fragrance intact for several hours. I think it makes a great duo with the female version but I admit the pour Homme version has a presence and longevity that the female one lacks.

It carries a misleading name as it has little to do with ‘Aqua’. It starts with something that reminds me of a sweet apple followed by warm and perhaps slightly heavy aromas. It’s a fragrance that pleases and is noticeable though it doesn’t project much and longevity is around 4-5 hours. It’s quite different from what is available today which is appreciated. I use it on a varied age range because it suits everyone well. Used lightly it goes well with heat although for me it smells like a slightly fresher climate.

I never even think of trying perfumes with ‘Aqua’ in the name… I dislike aquatic fragrances it’s not my style… but given the reviews I was encouraged to try it. Opening is fresh acidic but pulpy I imagine due to the apple and slightly spicy. Heart notes: the aquatic notes appear giving a salty smell mixing with hazelnuts that give it a summer version of One Million Lucky; the green note felt like mint not strong or intrusive but necessary toning down the hazelnuts a bit. In the dry down… The hazelnut smell still predominates now sweet mixed with vanilla and tonka bean resting on a woody base making it great for evening wear… I must admit the heart didn’t suit me too much luckily it lasts an hour and I stuck with the dry down which is spectacular. The name ‘Aqua’ I don’t know where it came from as it’s not 100% aquatic; if they had called it ‘Party Summer’ I think it would have suited better… Edited: Now that I have the bottle I must say the trail lasts a maximum of 2-3 hours same as longevity on the skin very scarce… and a great pity luckily the price isn’t excessive so it’s not annoying having to re-spray. Everyone has a different pH on my skin it doesn’t last long enough. I also clarify that on more than one occasion I sensed it with feminine touches almost unisex. Will it be just my impression?

I couldn’t resist and spent the afternoon at Douglas hunting for toiletries, where I stumbled upon Aqua Kenzo. A novelty… I adore trying new perfumes (though most are rubbish and drive me mad), so I gave it a go. My impression: it’s not a typical aquatic; it starts dense and sweet (dominated by hazelnut and tonka), spiced, and finishes with a rich, vanilla-tinged woody base. It follows in the footsteps of the brilliant Air Kenzo and I think they share common ground, especially that warm spicy touch. It’s a deceptive fragrance: it doesn’t smell of citrus or sea; it’s dense, warm, and sensual, with a very well-executed hazelnut aroma, all wrapped in the sweetness of tonka and a subtle, airy vanilla. It suits any age, plays between masculine and feminine, and is wearable all year round. By the way, the bottle is pretty and the box features a lovely Japanese ukiyo-e engraving (though, I repeat, it’s not a typical aquatic). I liked the scent and it has good performance, which is rare these days 🙂

I like the perfume but it’s nothing new. I don’t know if you’ve tried it but it smells very similar to Black Orchid by Tom Ford to me although super diluted it’s like an aquatic BO fresh and very airy with a touch of hazelnuts. I feel it’s more fruity than aromatic as Fragrantica points out but it’s not a bad aroma especially if you like the general aroma of Tom Ford perfumes. Performance on my skin has been good with an approximate duration of about 8 hours with a very notable trail at the start but which decays to moderate in 15 minutes and from there falling progressively until it dies at skin level. It’s a cheerful and summery fragrance and although it’s freshish it’s not fresh it has a good fruity charge that gives it body. Not very recommended for the day I see it more focused on warm and fresh nights of spring and summer. It seemed like a good perfume to me but that blatant Black Orchid air made me not fully convinced although if you like Tom Ford perfume with this you can continue enjoying it during the summer.
