Oh! The Origin by Tous

It’s easy to forget and difficult to wear. It smells to me of old, very dusty rose, ideal for warm climates but ends up being heavy. I bought it blind because of the price and because I’m a Tous fanatic, but I expected more. The bottle is classic with its gold cap and carved bear. Try it before buying.

It’s an interesting piece I met two years ago with a sample. I tested it until an incredible offer came up (50% off) and I bought it. I haven’t used it in every situation yet, but it always catches my attention. It opens with modern, clean, fresh, and cheerful roses, with a dusty touch. Over time, the moss emerges as a co-protagonist, giving it depth and darkness that contrasts with the floral notes. I’m surprised it’s not listed in the notes, but on my skin it’s very present, perhaps due to the tonka bean and iris root. It’s worth trying repeatedly.

I’m not an expert. As already said, it’s a very easy-to-wear perfume, the typical one you give because it doesn’t stand out too much. On my skin it smells of sweet rose, clean and creamy, perfect for getting out of the shower (spring/summer), putting on 6/7 sprays and going to work, shopping or for a walk, everyday things. On clothes it leaves a more citrusy scent, clearly orange, hehe, things of the pH. I find it pretty and tender. I would wear it perfectly a girl of 20 or of 40. It doesn’t resemble, but it evokes the feelings of Chloe.

At first, I thought I wouldn’t like it because of previous reviews, assuming it would just be another rose. Quite the opposite, and I loved it! The opening is fresh and potent; the mix of cherries and citrus is exquisite. Although it doesn’t last long, it’s worth it. Then a perfectly managed rose emerges, nothing overwhelming or outdated, thanks to the balance with vanilla. Finally, the rose becomes dustier and vanilla dominates. It’s super feminine, innocent, and delicate, like those compact powders from decades ago. Seduction depends on who wears it: I imagine a lady of ‘good standing’ escaping for a secret romance. It lasts 7 hours with good initial sillage. Daytime, but ideal for a romantic night (my husband called it ‘syrupy’ haha).

I’ve never tried Tous Rosa, so for me the brand smells of generic, respectful, unpretentious fragrances, although the price is not. The concept is classic and dated, like dusty rose, mixed with something fresh and modern: a clean opening with vanilla notes playing against heavy woods or spices. The bottle, which others didn’t mention, I find beautiful, simple yet substantial, with colours that evoke the past; it’s more like a romanticised granny’s vial with vanilla essence for the feet that are in the oven. I was given it at work and I like it; it smells lovely on my skin, something that doesn’t happen with all the hundreds I’ve tried. But I wouldn’t buy it; for that price I could take something that would leave me in awe and make me feel better, like the Mugler Eternity Love. Still, I prefer it to bestsellers like Scandal or LVEB.
