Descripción

Dior Poison Esprit de Parfum is a floral fragrance for women. Launched in the nineties, the nose behind this composition is Edouard Flechier. The top notes reveal plum, berries, anise, rosewood, coriander and pepper; the heart unfolds neroli, honey, incense, cloves, cinnamon, opoponax, rose, jasmine and orange blossom; while the base notes complete the pyramid with amber, vanilla, musk, heliotrope, sandalwood, vetiver and cedar.

  • From the notes I can detect, there is honey, nard, and plum over a spiced base. In my opinion, it doesn’t smell as sweet as Fragrantica’s description suggests; what is true is that it leaves a mark with a heavy trail and longevity. I’m not sure if I’m mistaken, but it seems to me to be an extract. I liked it.

If you haven’t tried the vintage EDT, this flanker gives you an idea of the power and beauty of the original Poison. In this Esprit de Parfum, the honey, nard, and plum are very well combined; the cumin is neither aggressive nor dominant. In the last version of the EDT, I felt the notes were separated, each on its own, with a very strong cumin and no trace of nard, which was my disappointment, along with its poor longevity. If you can get hold of this flanker, do not miss the opportunity: it is difficult and costly, but for Poison lovers, it is worth every penny.

Who doesn’t know the vintage EDT? With this flanker, the power and beauty of the original Poison become clear. In this Esprit de Parfum, the honey, nard, and plum blend wonderfully, and the cumin is neither aggressive nor dominant. In the final version of the EDT, I felt the notes were separated, each on its own, with a very strong cumin and no detectable nard, not to mention its poor performance. If you can get hold of this flanker, do not miss the opportunity: it is difficult and costly, but for Poison lovers, it is worth every penny.

  • I remember wandering through an antique shop, hunting for bottles with contents, when I found it: just a few drops, yet enough to reveal its potency. Those of us who love scent are insatiable, and there’s no need to feel guilty about it. Across the different concentrations and series, the beauty of the nuances shines through, whether it be the decadence or the splendour of a fragrance. Comparison helps us understand. Poison is an aromatic relic that tells a story from its bottle, with curves that entwine in the silhouette of that sinful apple of Adam and Eve. It was a declaration of an era: perfume ceased to be an accessory and became a symbol of magnetism, sensuality, and personality. Dior, seeking a new triumph to dominate the market as in its golden years, chose the name ‘Poison’, knowing it would be risky and controversial, much like YSL’s ‘Opium’, yet from that controversy sprang its popularity. They didn’t just want a floral; they wanted something provocative and narcotic that couldn’t go unnoticed. A blend of intoxicating sensuality and desire. Edouard Fléchier poured all his magic into the deepest concentration, unraveling the poison layer by layer. Here, honey soaks up the potent nard, ripe plum releasing all its power, and dry cinnamon reveals a moist side, integrating perfectly. The accents of anise, spicy woods, and incense give it an oriental touch, making the fruit seem dark, insatiable, and gothic. You can feel that erotic nard that was sometimes not allowed to be worn by girls for being deemed ‘inappropriate’. This concentration is luxury and wickedness in its most beautiful state. It is the beginning of the dynasty.
