  Vent de Folie by Annick Goutal is my first niche perfume purchase, and here’s my take. It’s a super glamorous, sweet and spicy eau de toilette with a summer vibe, evoking sun and rain-soaked grass. At first, I detect spiced geranium with orange and a subtle kick of pink pepper; almost immediately, a very sweet red berry jam emerges, accompanied by cowslip flowers floating like butterflies, topped by an aldehyded, exuberant raspberry that forms the heart of the fragrance. The scent is very soft; on my skin, it’s barely noticeable, yet the raspberry lingers from start to finish like a signature. It’s pure cologne softness. Towards the end, around 12 hours later, cedar and musk come in. It lasts several days on clothes, leaving a trail of sugary fruits. It transports me to a garden at dusk on a summer evening, in a field with an alpine cottage surrounded by flowers, gazing at a table with a white tablecloth and tea with jam cakes.
