About French Oud
French Oud: Jean Paul Gaultier’s New Citrus and Oud Scent
Jean Paul Gaultier introduces French Oud, a unisex fragrance that blends the intensity of oud with unexpected citrus freshness. Launched in 2026, this creation by perfumer Jordi Fernández redefines woodiness with a bright, modern twist.
French Oud opens with a burst of bitter orange, grapefruit, and bergamot, a trio that awakens the senses with its vibrant acidity. In the heart, oud wood intertwines with orange blossom, forming a contrast of smoky and floral, of deep and luminous.
This scent is for those who appreciate a modern oud that is less heavy and more approachable, without compromising elegance. It's ideal for lovers of citrus and woods who desire versatility, suitable for both day and evening wear.
French Oud is a bold statement that balances the richness of oud with citrus freshness, resulting in a contemporary and sophisticated composition. A noteworthy addition to Gaultier’s 2026 collection.

At first impression, I got a slap of Purple Oud from Maison Christian Dior. On drydown, I notice a lot of myrrh in my case, and it goes in the style of Purple Oud, a very spring-like oud, both day and night, even on cold winter nights. In my opinion, it’s worth it, it’s a good perfume.
