Gentlemen Only Casual Chic by Givenchy

One of the best ginger-based fragrances I’ve ever tried. Fresh, spicy, and utterly delightful. If you enjoy ginger, you’ll adore this. Suitable for any occasion and of exceptional quality.

Simply put, it’s a jewel in perfumery. I don’t know how they managed to create something like this. 1000 x 1000.

When I was told it was discontinued, I bought four 100ml bottles, and that says it all. I loved this fragrance and the entire Gentleman Only line. A super fresh and modern scent for the masculine image of the time. The juniper, ginger, mint, and wood notes gave an incredibly rich freshness. There must be a thousand similar scents, but I never found an alternative that delivered the same. It was a magnet for compliments; I hope they relaunch it or something similar comes out.

A very fresh, clean perfume for daily use, non-invasive, ideal for the office. It withstands heat well if applied sparingly, good projection, but… it smells like a cheap shampoo called Alert. It’s already discontinued, and if you think you missed out on a jewel, the truth is you didn’t, although one must be aware that very few perfumes seek to innovate.

I bought this fragrance two years ago with high expectations, as the Gentleman line was catching my attention at the time. The first impression was of an elegant and seductive fragrance, ideal for a charming and jovial man. Unfortunately, I must say that the longevity is very poor. What a pity.

This fragrance is very rich. While it’s not a beast in projection, it has the vibe of all the Givenchy Gentleman Only scents (spicy, fresh). It has quite good longevity, is sensual and captivating, though discreet. More than ideal for romantic outings, casual meet-ups with friends, the gym, or the office. It’s fresh, spicy, and elegant; but above all, supremely versatile.

For me, it simply smells incredible. It has given me top-tier results. Perhaps it doesn’t break the mould with a nuclear projection, but it certainly does what is needed and leaves a mark wherever you go. I’ve noticed it even after twelve hours, and people have complimented it many times. It’s one of my favourites; I recommend it wholeheartedly.

It would need to be tested in heat and applied well, with several sprays on its own. I tried mixing it with others, but given its character, it’s not the most suitable because it’s a little flat. With so many votes for birch, I expected something more smoky and woody, but the truth is it stays fresh, partly due to a gentle mint note which suits it perfectly. The rest are woods, spices, and ambroxan (fortunately not in the Sauvage style)… as I said, rather abstract and soft for everyday wear. It’s that kind of perfume where, if it smells good, you wish it had a bit more character. It performs only moderately.

Fresh and invigorating. It is one of the most underrated in the spring/summer range. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a flanker of another flanker or due to bad reviews on some YouTube channels. Personally, I find it fresh, citrusy, woody, leathery, and a little sweet, all combined. Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic opens with a strong explosion of ginger and juniper, which give it splendid freshness alongside mint; lavender adds cleanliness before moving to a sublime dry-down where amber, vanilla, and cedar stand out. All for one and one for all is the maximum expression of this fragrance, where the notes are perfectly blended. It is different from all the citrus scents available at these temperatures. Every fragrance has a catch, and in this case, it is its trail, which is very soft. For personal enjoyment. If you are looking for a fresh, sweet, woody, non-abrasive EDT for daytime summer use that is completely different, this is a very good option. Cheers to everyone!

I am fascinated by this Givenchy perfume, much more than the Gentlemen; it is almost equal in quality, though the scents are very different. It is a very aromatic fragrance with spices, woods, and some citrus, even if not listed, a very particular aroma as it is one of those that women won’t forget and conveys many things to the mind. It is comforting, subtle but with excellent fixation, fulfilling, balanced, long-lasting but not with high projection, rather moderate. A great option for offices, outings, for casual or formal wear, it is very versatile. If I were you, if I wanted to try a Givenchy perfume, these two must be the first: this one and the Gentleman, without doubt, but in terms of age, this is for 20-30s and the other for 50 and above. Its aroma moves from a fresh opening to woody and finally becomes sweet with vanilla and coumarin; it really surprised me completely. Very satisfied with this purchase, one of those that you repeat. I will add a contribution: curiously, all perfumes that carry woods, lavender, mint, and vanilla turn out to be very seductive like this one, as well as those with pepper.

Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is more like the Only straight than the Only Intense, meaning it is fresh, summery, or mid-season and quite balanced to have a good quantity of notes given today’s perfumery. The exception to this balance of such disparate notes is a note that starts to stand out after about twenty minutes and makes the fragrance slightly repulsive at times (I calculate it is the coumarin). This negative point is not serious; it didn’t make it unviable. I still consider it a pleasant fragrance. However, personally, I prefer the previous two mentioned from the Only line because although all three share the cedar-birch duo that gives them their essence and identifies them so much, and I particularly like it, this Casual Chic instead of combining it with patchouli or some other stronger note of the style, in my opinion, gets lost in an identity of very different notes which, while balanced, dissipate their personality. The opening scared me a little; too many fresh orange and citrus notes. With the dry-down came the positive surprise: touches of wood and very pleasant spices appeared, in the line of classics from the early 90s, and it stayed that way for several hours. I think it is a very balanced fragrance with a very good, fresh, and summery aroma, but without a doubt masculine and with its retro point in the dry-down. The huge problem is that it stays almost from the beginning close to the skin. It does hold, it is possible to notice it several hours later, but at a negligible volume level, which does not do justice to the quality of the composition. In its effort not to bother, it is like that handsome but shy type who doesn’t take over the world because he doesn’t dare to stand out. Despite everything, it’s not bad. Note: 7.5.

Like the Original, I found it boring and suffocating, but Casual Chic is a different story: not divine, yet brilliant, fresh and addictive, with that Givenchy vibe. Strong notes of ginger (I thought it was tangerine), juniper and an incredible sandalwood. They’re somewhat similar, but that citrus note saves it. It lasts well and leaves a trail; I’ll definitely be buying this one this summer.

Excellent for daytime, but I was disappointed by the longevity; it barely lasts three hours. Good combination of ingredients, I recommend trying it, though it doesn’t make my top five.

I absolutely love this version of Only Gentleman; it’s much fresher than the previous ones while retaining the soul of its older sibling. It has raised the freshness level with mint, cardamom, ginger, juniper and lavender, although the earthy base of patchouli and the hint of incense have been dropped. What it does keep is the woody base of birch, sandalwood, vetiver and cedar; the vanilla, coumarin and geranium are noticeable but very subtly. What really caught my attention is its dry-down: it lasts about seven hours with a moderate trail, present but not intrusive. It seems suitable for any season and smells a bit like L’homme Libre. I recommend it for a try!
