Some time ago I visited the Prada boutique and tried almost all the perfumes from their new Infusion line. I ended up in a cloud of velvety/soapy scent with the big problem of not being able to distinguish each fragrance hehe. Of this Clove Infusion I can say it is a clean, slightly soapy and floral scent; obviously the dominant note is the clove, in its spiced/floral slightly green aroma. It is a very elegant and feminine scent, of the classic type. The woody notes make it very warm and give it maturity, without doubt worthy of Prada’s family of elegant perfumes.
The Oeillet Infusion features a classic, peppery and powdery clove, highly spiced with touches of nutmeg. The opening has fresh, bright flashes of mandarin (which last only a breath). Soon a resin emerges halfway between fougère and oriental, powdery, balsamic, with memories of sweet and cool myrrh, and clean green and camphoraceous hints of a patchouli. It is the least ‘infusion-like’ in the range, having the least musky and metallic base, the least fresh, yet it retains the soapy imprint, making it also the most intense and long-lasting. A perfume with modern touches and a nod to the past, perfectly unisex, balanced, elegant without being subtle. Fortunately for me, it is a great unknown 🙂
It begins aromatic, spiced, peppery and warm, just like the bottle’s colour. At first, it’s hard to pick up the clove; I only sense it amongst the spices, but with time it comes through beautifully: the scent settles, loses its edge, becoming creamy, cool and softly sweet. This is the phase I enjoy most; it doesn’t project much anymore, sitting close to the skin, yet it lasts for hours. Overall, I adore it. The clove is masterfully done, with many nuances. It has a soapy facet reminiscent of classic cosmetics and leans towards the masculine side. It’s more intense than other infusions I’ve tried, interesting, with personality and evolution. It lasts over 12 hours on the skin and projects moderately at first. A very good perfume.
I absolutely love it: clean, semi-velvety. The clove emerges after 30–40 minutes, but what dominates are the mature woods, very similar to Loewe 001 Man at the start.
