Definitely, this OR ENCENS is an evolution of NOIR ARGENT, or vice versa, hehehe. They share similarities but also have their own distinct differences. I already compared them using decants. I have the 100ml bottle of Noir Argent for around $57, but I’m still waiting for the Or Encens edition from 26 May 2024. I bought mine in June 2022, also 100ml, for $67.

I couldn’t quite find the charm in it. I admit I liked it when I first tried it, but it wore me out just like others. What I dislike most is Issey Miyake’s habit of discontinuing all their perfumes except the original classics: Pulse of the Night, Noir Ambre, Noir Argent, Polaris… Rose with incense has something about it that I simply don’t enjoy.

A beautiful unisex rose composition, masculine yet without losing the quality of Issey’s ‘Dark Side’. It reminds me a bit of Oud Satin Mood but less heavy, more wearable and delicious. It’s quite sensual and nothing pretentious. The longevity is decent (6-8 hours) with at least 7 sprays. I wouldn’t pay more than $100 because, were it not for the trail and longevity which exceed the average, I’d be delighted. At first, it smells like strange syrup; I feel it lacks punch, perhaps it was intended to be discreet.

  4. After several weeks of waiting, I finally received this superlative on Friday. Incense and rose at niche quality, very well balanced thanks to the sacred marriage of leather and amberwood. The trail is high at first due to the rose, and as it settles, you notice that leather base which culminates in a beautiful incense, one of the best I’ve tried. In my view, it has many similarities with CH Men Insignia, only that there it was oud-rose-leather and here it’s incense-rose-leather; the concept is quite similar. Sometimes it’s worth paying for the small quirks of these perfumes that are so hard to come by.

  5. A spectacular fragrance where a dense, dark incense predominates, amplified by the leather, but balanced by the softness of the underlying rose. It is the evolution of Miyake’s Noir Argent and very close in quality to Tom Ford’s Men Extreme. As @juangse says, it has nothing to envy from any niche, fitting perfectly into that league. In my opinion, it has a dark and nocturnal soul, but it’s also an excellent option for very cold days.
