Supremacy Incense by Afnan

Seems they’ve reformulated it. I bought a bottle from June 2023 and the aroma changed significantly compared to the early batches. It no longer resembles Interlude; they’ve lowered the smoky notes and oregano, and increased the fruity and sweet spices. Previously, the smoky and oregano notes dominated from the start and were almost linear until the dry down with woods and amber. Now the opening is fruity/spiced and sweeter, while the smoky notes (reduced) are noticeable from the start and last until the dry down. In the heart and base, there are notable vanilla, coriander, and tonka bean notes without the fruitiness disappearing. At the end, woods, amber, and a very marked tonka bean remain. Regarding longevity and projection, before it was beast mode with over 12 hours. Now the projection is good for the first hour and then acceptable, with longevity on skin around 6 hours (over 10 on clothes). Personally, the current aroma seems more interesting and versatile, but the performance is only acceptable. I think those seeking challenging and extreme aromas will be disappointed. Greetings Fragrantic@s!!! Update 1: Now it smells more like Lattafa Maahir Black Edition. The tonka bean is noticeable from the heart and intensifies at the end, similar to Maahir Black but more prominent. Update 2: The aroma improves as the liquid oxidises with use. The fruity and sweet spice notes intensify and the performance improves. Does anyone confirm if the aroma (batch 2023+) resembles Naahir Black and by default Terroni?

What a beast! Powerful opening with oregano and spices; between many quotes, I sense herbal notes. Smoky heart (the opening is smoky too) with a delicious amber that adds soft sweetness, body, and a certain sparkle. Quite resinous thanks to the opoponax and labdanum. I smell a semi-chocolatey patchouli, not green, but dark. I don’t perceive leather. I’ve never smelled the original Interlude, but if they say this clone is 95% identical, what a delight the original must be. Longevity of 10 hours on skin, present for 6/7 hours, projecting for about 2/3 hours with bursts up to the fifth hour. From there it’s close-to-the-skin, and after 8 hours it’s a second skin. Let it oxygenate, like any Arab perfume. Those who say it’s hard to wear or too occasional are wrong; I use it for work, going out, seeing my girlfriend, anywhere I go I’m complimented, never told I wasn’t suitable for the occasion. Batch 2022. Edit: I have a decant of the Interlude and they are extremely similar, but the original has more body, depth, and smells of better quality.

The opening is potent, clear oregano, but also with a sweetness that isn’t as marked in Interlude Man, which could make it ‘kinder’ for noses not yet familiar with the Amouage version. It’s potent, equally denotes the presence of the original, continues to project and evolve beyond the sixth hour (not as exaggerated in longevity as Interlude Man and less than the Interlude Man 53 version). However, for the price, it’s more than enough. What more can be said? To describe this aroma that pays homage very well to Supremacy. The opening is rough, but the dry-down is the most beautiful part; those who know the Amouage version know this well. The Afnan version borrows almost nothing from the original; highly recommended. Greetings. *I haven’t tried the other Arab alternatives, only Killer Oud, but I’d say I’m sticking with this for now.

Before judging, atomise and swirl the bottle to oxygenate it; letting it rest for a week makes a difference: the fragrance rounds out and softens. The opening is intense and slightly rough, but within a minute it stabilises, revealing a refined incense heart with warm and vanilla nuances. The structure is deep and balanced. Its performance is exceptional: with few drops it projects strongly and leaves a trail that lasts days on clothes or in enclosed spaces. Compared to Interlude Man, it’s more balanced and wearable; the oregano is present but moderate, and the sweet base adds an unexpected elegance. I am testing it, one spray, and, my God, I am liking it so much. The oud is there with smoky notes and labdanum, giving intensity and longevity; I think the trail with more sprays will be a small beast, I say small to avoid sounding exaggerated, I will update soon. Frankly, it is nocturnal and grants a mystical halo, mysterious and with a personal touch like few I have smelled. The spices and patchouli are there, towards the heart, giving roundness and tenacity, modern and different. Very happy, it is my first Arab fragrance. A lesson in good taste and quality with a very convenient price. Hugs.

How exaggerated people are… this perfume is super kind. It starts with a normal spicy and citrusy opening, then goes straight to that smoky church incense and oud phase. A fragrance that is not complex at all; it stays very close to the skin. It is okay, but not worth the fireworks; I expected a bomb and it was not. A normal perfume that projects just enough. The scent is good, but not anything special; people do not know where to put their nose. It does not resemble Amouage at all, not even 10,000 kilometres away. It has a very similar dry-down to many Arab fragrances. 7/10.

Smells like frankincense, spices, and full-on smoke. I tried it briefly in-store, and like with Afnan, it left my arm stuck for hours. Is it good? I don’t know. I wouldn’t recommend Interlude or Supremacy Incense. I’m joining those who define it as ‘esoteric shop scent’; I don’t know who wants to smell like that. I suppose it’s for those seeking to stand out and project an air of mystery. Perhaps it’s the ideal bottle for a tarot reader? Who knows… At least it’s cheap.

A clone of the hype niche Interlude by Amouage. It lasts quite a while and is good value. Bear in mind, it’s not for everyone: it smells strong, mature, and dark; it doesn’t bring compliments, nor does it need to, and it’s very versatile. It’s the typical spiced, smoky, incense-laden Arab scent, famous thanks to the classic Interlude, but with a slightly herbal and vanilla-ish undertone. The Midnight Oud by Ard Al Zaafaran is also a good clone for a few quid.

It’s a challenging fragrance; if you’re into sweet, easy scents, this isn’t for you. It’s basically incense, which I like. Projection is brutal and longevity needs no saying; I no longer wear it on clothes because after the second wash it disappears completely, it’s so strong. If you have a strong character and want to impose, this is ideal. Just be aware… no one will give you compliments, but what matters is that you like it and that’s it.

I bought it blindly, hype’d by the similarity to Interlude, although I haven’t tried both. I wore it one day and haven’t used it since. It’s a peculiar scent. My concept of incense is different; I expected something church-like, spicy and smoky. To me, this smells literally like that pesto or balm sauce you put on pasta. Of course, you’ll smell different, but on the day I wore it, I wished to go home. Not a blind buy for me.

WOW! Want to smell different from everyone else? Want to move from a lukewarm bloke to one with a silver lining? Buy Amouage Interlude Man or its near-identical twin, Supremeacy Incense. What fragrance? Not suitable for glass generations; it has beastly longevity, projection, and a heavy trail; with this fragrance, not even mosquitoes dare to bite you. For men with an unbreakable personality. I recommend it 100%.

After having it for a while, I regret buying Interlude. Now I have this and Interlude, and damn, unless you press your nose right up against it, you can barely tell the difference; it’s completely unnecessary to buy Interlude with this clone, I’ve never seen one so well executed, it’s brutal and equal in longevity and projection. Said 340 euros thrown in the trash, and this one cost me 39, unbelievable.

A different fragrance. At first, the opening smells like oxidised perfume, too unpleasant for me. But after a while, that rust turns into woody, amber incense with a slight fresh touch. Not my favourite, but its quality-price ratio, scent, and performance keep it in the collection. In my opinion, it’s for night wear in cold climates. The price is very good, as is the presentation and bottle.

It’s an excellent dupe of Amouage’s Interlude Man, including projection and longevity; a fragrance that infuses spirituality. I loved its clean, high-quality incense note. Note, it’s not for everyone; I believe it’s not for the young, but for mature people who want to project security, confidence, and distinction.

Let no one buy this blindly; it is a bomb, and even after washing myself four times, the smell would not come off. For a novice like me, it is too much; it smells strongly of unpleasant food. I would never use it; it is the only one I have desperately tried to remove from my skin.
