Bois Datchai is my favourite from Maison Crivelli, and I think it’s partly because of its rich, well-balanced tea note, beautifully supported by an appealing woody character. The currants and cinnamon give it a sweet yet slightly acidic edge, while the cedar and guaiac woods add depth and density to the scent. Up close, it sometimes reminds me of caraway (which has happened with other tea-based fragrances), but its trail is spectacular and intoxicating. I see it as a more masculine, versatile fragrance suitable for any weather or occasion, with average longevity. Like most of Crivelli’s offerings, it’s an easy-to-love scent of high quality that doesn’t smell exactly like anything else. I also believe it’s well worth trying as an introduction to the brand or as an alternative to other tea-based fragrances. Rating: 9/10

The blackcurrants and cinnamon add a touch of sweetness with a hint of acidity, while the cedar and guaiac bring darkness and depth. Up close, it sometimes smells of cumin (a trait shared by other tea perfumes), but the trail is spectacular and intoxicating. I see it as more masculine, versatile for any weather or occasion, with average performance. In the Crivelli style, it’s easy to like, high quality, and doesn’t smell like anything else. Worth trying to get to know the brand or as an alternative to other tea fragrances. Rating: 9/10
