I know they reformulated Cool Water Wave, but I still have the original version. When the new batch launched, I rushed to buy it blindly, terrified of missing out. For years I’ve been tracking its notes, convinced that this blend of peony, pepper, and mango with Cool Water’s signature freshness would be a summer olfactory delight. And it is, but only if worn by a man. It’s not exactly unisex; it smells distinctly masculine, and I can’t quite explain why. I’m not sure which note lingers until the end, completely drowning out the tentative feminine touches; I catch the pink pepper and tropical fruit, but… what is that so overtly masculine presence? Could it be the watermelon? Honestly, I have no idea. I truly believe a man wearing this would undoubtedly catch my eye, and I wouldn’t be the only one. By the way, longevity and projection are excellent, suitable for any season. The aquatic notes invite wear in the heat, while the pepper and wood add a warmth that makes it perfect for other times of year. Would I recommend it? Yes, but to men without fragile egos who won’t be frightened by seeing the word ‘woman’ on the bottle, and to women who wouldn’t mind a touch of masculinity. Unfortunately, I don’t fit into either category, but the scent is certainly worth it.
