Dior Addict Eau Delice by Dior

It lives up to its name – what a treat! I wish Addict’s fruity line were still available in stores. It’s a warm floral with cherries and blueberries dusted with sexy vanilla and seductive flowers like jasmine, ylang-ylang, and roses. The citrus adds a zesty, youthful touch, very well blended and almost imperceptible. It’s very similar to Hypnotic Poison, but surprisingly, I prefer this Delice, which only a minority have had the pleasure of knowing. For those looking for something similar, I suggest Natura’s Humor 5 – they’re remarkably alike! How can one get hold of it?

In a department store, they applied this to me and it was a pleasant surprise: it reacts well with my pH and I perceive the cherry, vanilla, almond, and floral touches of rose, jasmine, and bergamot. It has a moderate trail and lasts 8 hours on skin, over 10 on clothes. It left me enchanted, sensual, and seductive, with that warmth and sweetness without being invasive. When I finished the bottle, I wanted to buy it again, but they had discontinued it; what a pity. Of the entire Dior Addict family, this is my favourite; the current blue one I like, but it doesn’t evoke the same feeling in me.

My last purchase alongside Absolutely Blooming. In this case, I bought it blind due to the many positive reviews. I’ll share my first impressions. At first, I loved it deeply; it seemed very much like a baby cologne – in fact, it seemed identical to Johnsons Baby’s ‘Sweet Dreams’ violet cologne. Then I started to feel as though a delicious fruit was rotting. That transformation from something delightful to something repulsive, retaining certain notes but in their most unpleasant form. I’m trying to be honest. Over time, it became less repulsive, but retained a very synthetic scent mixed with a ‘grandma’ smell. The only thing that consoles me is that I got it on offer (as you’ll know, it’s discontinued), so I’ll use it up and see how the ‘public’ reacts; perhaps it’s just me who perceives it this way. Later, I’ll see if I sell it at half price, gift it away, or keep it if I receive compliments. Aesthetically, it makes me very happy; its bottle is gorgeous. UPDATE: I definitely like its base notes now. The synthetic feel is gone, and it’s back to being the soft, fruity, sweet fragrance from the beginning, less fresh and more sweet and powdery. I don’t love it for that interim period where I have to wait for the ‘middle notes’ to work with my skin, but honestly, I like it. I’ll keep it, although I don’t recommend buying it blind.

I looked for it because of Cielo y Tierra, thinking I’d love it for the notes and the reviews. I expected something fresher, sweeter, and fruitier. I found none of that; I didn’t detect any red fruit scent, just a mix of synthetic aromas. Only at 8 hours, when the perfume was almost gone, could it deceive me into thinking it was a rich fragrance. I had high expectations and didn’t like it at all. What luck I had to find a tester beforehand; I nearly made a blind purchase!

I received a miniature of this perfume as a gift and found it delicious. Cherries, acidity, and sweetness combined. It’s a real pity Dior has discontinued this perfume; I’d buy several.

Does anyone know if Delice smells like another perfume, or is it similar to any other in the Addict line? Thanks.

Eau Delice is the coquettish little sister of the hundreds of Dior Addict derivatives (which are already overexploited, to the point of seeming overused, and whose flankers sometimes surpass irrelevance). It follows a line very similar to the infamous Sweet by Lolita Lempicka, though evoking a more discreet vulgarity, or less perturbingly childish. For me, it is a belated and boastful response to the success of fruitchuli gourmands (like Nina by Nina Ricci), and I say boastful because I don’t think Dior took this seriously: they chose to paint the bottle pink and use promotional images of the original Addict. It seems they didn’t even take their competition seriously. When creating a ‘response’ fragrance, they usually choose a ‘pillar’, not the thirtieth flanker of a saturated line. In short: it begins with an avalanche of blueberry and cherry, dismissing the orange; the dry-down is basically a red fruit sauce to decorate ice cream or pancakes. Once settled, it is an almond and cherry essence with enormous floral transparency (I don’t notice the jasmine or ylang-ylang) that reminds me of a cherry lip gloss, very similar to Lolita’s Sweet, but without ageing or makeup reminiscences (surely because it lacks iris). It ends with that same lip gloss, but more subdued and musky, with a microscopic trail of vanilla. Its evolution is fleeting; after 30 minutes I already notice the base notes, although the blueberries remain. Olfactorily, it is far from the original Addict; it is delicious as food, not as perfume. I would prefer to chew it like a sticky caramel. It has a coquettish and jovial spirit, but promiscuous like Lolita’s Sweet, although this one is more mature and modest (or perhaps hypocritical; if it were a character, it would be indignant if called vulgar). Its trail and longevity are moderate, but well for an Eau de Toilette. Personally I do not like it; I find it boring and vulgar; it is predictable and nothing new, but if you like lip gloss, you will surely like Eau Delice.

How beautiful it smells at first! It is my mother’s favourite; I notice it more on her than on me. It is very pleasant, feminine and young. Fruity, fresh and acidic: berries with citrus and a floral touch. It is light and with a charming simplicity. I prefer sweeter and oriental perfumes, but this one is precious for going out during the day. The trail is very wide at first, then it reduces and is only noticeable in close contact. Unfortunately, it does not have much fixative power nor is it long-lasting.

It makes me gag immediately; it is too sweet.

What a beautiful and coquettish perfume! I like it very much and I want to thank my friend SeleneHdez who gifted it to me for my birthday :D. For me it smells more like blueberries than cherries, like a super acidic and sweet blueberry juice; sometimes the cherry appears, also acidic. The almond smell I do not notice much. It smells like perfume, I don’t know if I explain myself well; it’s like a blueberry juice but in perfume form, not natural. On my skin it lasts a long time and I think it is good for all year, even in summer if applied with a lighter hand. The base is less sweet, soft and somewhat musky; I like it quite a bit. I am very happy because lately I have grown to like fruity perfumes more. Changing the subject and reading Modadicta’s review asking what this brand proposes: unfortunately, Dior proposes the same as many others: to sell. Certainly some perfumes will no longer be the same as before, those emblematic of another era that, if we are lucky, we can still enjoy. It was another era, other people and another market. Trends change and Dior is interested in going with the flow and continuing to sell. Perhaps Eau Delice is for a younger market that enjoys light, fruity and simple perfumes; I do not complain, I adore them, just as I adore the monsters of Poison, but the truth is I have not tried enough of the old Dior to complain about what they release now. Dior has a line called La Collection Privée, perfumes with supposed niche quality and something more ‘different’ from the regular line, perhaps that is what you are looking for 🙂

This perfume hooked me at first sight and I bought it without a second thought. It’s fruity and sweet, but nothing overwhelming; I detect real cherries, almonds, blueberries, orange, and vanilla in a perfect combination of soft sweetness and nothing annoying. I find it cheerful, creamy, and with an oily touch that I love. I enjoy it in winter more than ever; we’ll see how it fares in the heat. It lasts over 8 hours with a moderate trail.

Exquisite fragrance Delice! I adore the notes of orange and cherry with the vanilla; it’s fresh, sweet, and very fine, although intense for a romantic spring night.
