Essencial Oud Pimenta by Natura

Natura is trying to play God with this perfume 😃 Now seriously: I like it, a lot. It has a spicy opening with black pepper, but to me (and every nose is a universe) the pepper in the masculine version seems spicier. You also feel citrus in the opening, but curiously I perceive it on the blotter and not on skin. Also from the opening you feel iris and white flowers, not overwhelming at all. Is there Oud? Yes, not as potent as that of its brother, but it is a supporting Oud, like the bass in a rock band: you don’t notice it’s there but if you take it out everything collapses. As it dries down, the pepper fades and you feel saffron, as if for a second the perfume wanted to turn into Fahrenheit, but the iris, which is still there, won’t let it. Towards the end, after a few minutes the pepper disappears, the Oud gets a bit darker, more elegant and soft, and you are left with woods, myrrh and iris and everything becomes a bit sweeter without resembling Essencial Oud. Is it feminine? NOT AT ALL. It is totally unisex but if you are a woman you have to like complex perfumes for the pepper, the myrrh and the dirty start of the Oud. If as a man you like perfumes with iris and white flowers you will have no problem. It is a niche perfume at a catalogue price, but the other Ouds in the Essencial line already do that so it is nothing new. Of course, if you are expecting a Beast Mode or a barnyard Oud look elsewhere, this perfume is something else. You can even wear it to go have dinner at an elegant restaurant. Iris things. What Tarot character would wear this perfume? It can only be the High Priest or the High Priestess. If he or she stepped down from the card and dressed in an impeccable suit to go have dinner at an elegant restaurant, they would smell exactly like this. A character who projects mystery, maturity, sharp intelligence and an elegance that disarms anyone. He does not try to be the life of the party, he wants people to come closer to listen to his wisdom in a low voice.

Anything but oud. It is a very elegant fragrance, a lot of iris and myrrh. Unisex? Yeah, totally

This perfume is wonderful. A fairly sophisticated spicy, powdery scent. Although it is listed as feminine, I find it more masculine, even unisex. It is a fairly versatile scent to wear at any time of day. Even in any season. Although it is on cold days, and at night where you get the best performance from it. Without doubt a scent that will not go unnoticed. That will attract glances for the mystery and magic this particular scent creates. I say this from my own experience. Its masculine version is just as good in quality as this one. But it goes in totally different directions. Definitely totally recommended for those who like scents that are not so conventional, nor commercial.

Don’t buy it blind. I think those who like perfumes such as Opium by YSL may enjoy it. On me it is pure cardamom and pepper. More unisex leaning masculine.

Essencial Oud Pimienta is an olfactory proposal within catalogue perfumery, in my opinion part of Natura’s foray into niche perfumery, designed to create an experience, not to massify it. That said, I would describe this fragrance as feminine, warm and spicy, dominated by notes of pink pepper, lemon and myrrh. I like it, but it’s not my favourite from the Oud mini collection, however I consider it more versatile than Oud Vanilla. It has medium projection and longevity, pleasant, sober and orientated towards the “Arabian perfume” type so fashionable these days. Because of the very pronounced pepper load, it is extremely pungent and I consider it the most festive of the Essencial family. It doesn’t smell like Luna Rubí. Most importantly, you should know it should not be bought blind, because it might not please those who prefer gourmand, soft floral, fruity or sweet perfumes, even if you like the traditional Essencial Oud, it’s better to try before buying, because there is a distance between them. Who will like it: lovers of spicy and powdery perfumes.

I love it, I adore it, it fascinates me!!! The dry-down is a delight.

I love how it sits on my skin. I perceive it as a powdery woody fragrance. From the opening you feel a quality far above its price. That spiced opening, with a sweet but soft touch, nothing harsh or cloying, the saffron and its scratchy vibe come through, that characteristic smell of a market aisle where they sell chillies and spices. Then comes the drydown, the part I like most, with a slightly animalic feeling, suddenly it gives me that stable touch, but a stable not of horses, but of unicorns. It smells like unicorn sweat (bloody hell, what good stuff) LOL and it is that subtle, barely perceptible animalic touch what I love most for how it sits on my skin, it does not smell like a feminine perfume at all, I will grant you it passes as unisex because of that powdery texture of the drydown, but the truth is it sits very well on mature men; on women, look, I will tell you the truth, not just any woman will feel comfortable, mmm no. I think those women who are used to semi-animalic, woody and deliciously spiced scents will feel comfortable with this Essencial Oud Pimienta Fem. How lovely it is to find these daring proposals in a catalogue house, at an excellent price when it is on discount. Natura fragrances are getting better and better.

It is such a Sacred scent, that I have put it on and I feel surrounded by a halo of mysticism. A bomb of spices with ceremonial flowers, pepper stands out bringing boldness and spark! I do not see copal amongst the notes, perhaps the fragrance alchemists created a similar note through the fusion of the other resins. And yes, it brings back memories of the incense and copal ceremonies performed and witnessed on the American continent. This ceremonial note is not dominant, it is felt at times blending with the beautiful aroma of iris, pepper, oud, myrrh, breu branco and jasmine. Definitely this fragrance is not for every taste but for those who know how to appreciate the elegance of wearing the precious and magical elements that nature gives us! Would you dare to wear it?

I’ve got a decant and I thought it was an excellent, very unisex fragrance, it lasts quite a long time, moderate sillage, on my nose at first you smell a lot of citrus with pepper and cardamom; in its middle stage the cardamom lingers, you notice quite a lot of palo santo, cedar, myrrh and an ambery base with a soft oud and lovely leather (although not listed) embraced by the oud and amber, and that middle stage lasts almost to the end leaving a spiced amber with cardamom and a soft oud. I think it’s 10 out of 10, I wouldn’t change a thing

I find it unisex, a little bit bitter, it has a sort of vintage feel. I can’t distinguish its DNA. I love its spiced freshness, I get the iris note clearly and that’s probably why it’s had my ♥️ from the very first moment. To my nose it feels very far removed from what’s in fashion. I want to have it even if it’s just in the mini version, 25 ml!

Essencial Oud Pimienta on my skin feels like an amalgam of pure woods, between damp and smoky, with no sweetness at all and with somewhat spicy, minty and herbal peppery notes. I have mixed feelings about this fragrance, because it’s not one of my favourites but how I love to spray it on. I live in an area with permanently warm weather and I think it develops very well in this environment. I consider it a creative bet from Natura that you have to try someday to perceive things you don’t usually smell in catalogue perfumes. That’s it. But I insist, how I love to spray it on. The reason is that it lasts very well and goes well with cotton clothing and no one, absolutely no one, will smell like this in your immediate surroundings.

I finally got to try this one and its masculine version… It surprised me the first few minutes then it lost the magic… the first ten minutes the pepper stood out with something chocolatey and mentholated, which gave me a faint distant reminder of the masculine Essencial Mirra (I know, nothing to do with the reviews I see but well, each nose is different) and also a somewhat fruity oud that remotely reminded me of traditional oud… then I felt it turn sweeter, stronger in its floral and powdery part leaning vintage, I didn’t like it there… not one for a blind buy —

A truly unique aroma, no doubt about it. Pepper dominates over all the other notes, although myrrh, cedar and palo santo can also be detected. This whole combination makes it a spice bomb not for the faint-hearted. To my nose, I’d say the pepper continues to be noticeable for hours, even into the next day. I can only wear it in cold weather and in open places because otherwise it feels a bit overwhelming to me, as it is very strong and spicy. It was given to me as a gift but I would not have bought it nor would I buy it. However, for people who like this type of fragrance or the Arabian ones so fashionable lately, it may be very much liked.
