Descripción
Roses & Chocolate by Mancera is a floral fruity gourmand fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2013, this composition was created by perfumer Pierre Montale. The top notes unfold a vibrant accord of peach, blackcurrant, mandarin and bergamot; the heart reveals the sensuality of dark chocolate, rose and violet; while the base notes land on a warm foundation of vanilla, white musk and cedar.

In the opening, it’s very strong and even disgusting, but when it dries down, it smells delicious. I perfectly detect the roses and cocoa; it smells like perfumed Nutella to me. I don’t detect any fruits or woods. I have a 25 ml decant; honestly, I wouldn’t buy the 120 ml bottle, but it’s recommended for daily use because I don’t find it intrusive.
Since applying it, it reminds me of something edible, but I didn’t realise until someone in an English review mentioned that the chocolate mixes with orange, and it’s exactly like the Choco Naranja they make in my country. I adore Roses Chocolate! It’s sweet and creamy.
The opening is a boom of milk chocolate, and within seconds a ripe red rose appears. When it dries down, the musk feels great and lasts even after washing the clothes. It’s a soft but present musk, not the overpowering kind common in Mancera scents; it smells clean. On me, it lasts two hours with good projection, but then it fades horribly and I can hardly perceive it, which is a shame. I sold it and bought it back. I use it on cold days, and now it fixes and projects much better.
The opening is boozy and can be overwhelming, but as it dissipates, it leaves that note of bitter chocolate that dominates the rest. The trail and longevity are beastly.
This perfume doesn’t quite convince me; its chocolatey opening feels strange and irritating, not like appetising chocolate. I do like the dry-down as it reminds me of YSL’s Manifesto EDP. It has a moderate trail and lasts four hours on my skin, which is little for a Mancera.
Watch out, this is a gem in the perfume world that nobody talks about. A friend gifted me a decant and told me she treasured it like a treasure, and she was absolutely right. Upon application, the chocolate shines not just for its scent but for that oily layer it leaves on the skin. In the opening, it smells of toasted seeds with flashes of blackcurrant, and when it dries down, the rose is incredibly noticeable! To me, it’s a mix of roses, violets, and chocolate. The longevity is beastly; I put it on in the morning and can still smell it the next day.
