I knew nothing of styrax and at first it seemed like smoky myrrh that didn’t appeal to me much, but as happens with many Guerlains in this line, the scent takes a spectacular turn. That Guerlain magic appears, a talc-like blend with two of my favourite notes: vanilla and tonka bean. Sometimes it even smells of violets, even though they aren’t listed on Fragrantica. It’s not something to buy blind because it doesn’t win you over at first sniff, but it has exquisite nuances that you enjoy in every phase.
