Perfumer
Pierre Montale
Pierre Montale, a renowned perfumer and founder of the prestigious niche perfume houses Montale and Mancera, was born in France.
Pierre Montale’s career took off when he embarked on a journey to the Kingdom of Arabia 20 years ago. During his travels, he learned confidential materials through the Royal family, which inspired him to create an olfactive universe that ultimately led him to establish the Montale perfume house in Paris in 2003.
Montale uses high-quality natural materials and high concentrations in his fragrances, resulting in intense and long-lasting aromas. The brand’s signature ingredient is oud, or agarwood, which features prominently in many of his creations.
In 2008, Pierre Montale expanded his olfactive empire by founding the Mancera perfume house, a project that would eventually become a unique collaboration between him and his daughter, Amélie. In 2017, Amélie took over as artistic director of the Mancera fragrances, driving the multigenerational project forward. Together, they create a visual and olfactive dance that transports their customers on a journey to the far reaches of remote lands where myths are born and the future is drawn.
His travels and experiences greatly influence Pierre Montale’s approach to perfume creation in the Oriental world. His fragrances evoke the senses and visions of a man who travels between distant lands and his homeland, with a tribute to French refinement and the richness of the materials. This exceptional olfactive experience is the hallmark of the Montale and Mancera brands.
The Montale boutique, located near the Champs-Élysées in Paris, offers an immersive experience that takes visitors on a journey through the beauties and wonders of the Oriental world. This commitment to capturing the essence of the East in its fragrances is a testament to Pierre Montale’s unique approach to creating perfumes.
The collaboration between Pierre Montale and his daughter, Amélie, at the Mancera perfume house serves as a testament to the enduring legacy and multigenerational appeal of their perfumes. Their creations capture the essence of faraway lands, bridging the gap between the Oriental and Western worlds in a harmonious olfactive experience.
